Valid comparison, save for one point. Manning throws a lot more deep balls than Sanchez. And one contextual point, Manning is the exception to the rule that after 4 years as a starter in the league they suddenly get better. For every manning there are 30 who never pan out or improve.
1968 Jetfan, as I said "you must get CREATIVE to defend SANCHEZ" It got to the point last year where he would go like 7-19 68 yards 2 sacks. 2picks and TQBR of 6.6 and the SANCHEZ apologists would point out that he had NO FUMBLES. Whats really amazing to me is that their are still JET FANS out there that believe he is a viable NFL QB! Simply amazing!
2004-2006 Kevin Gilbride QB coach 2007-present Kevin Gilbride Offensive coordinator I know the Giants draft better but the offensive coordination has been nonexistent...for Sanchez
VALID point BUT is it that SANCHEZ is such an awful QB and REX is clueless about offense that gets OC's fired or is it the other way around and the OC's combined with REX make poor QB's? I tend to think that SANCHEZ could get BILL WALSH and AIR CORYELL fired!
Just too many mistakes. Mistakes cost you points and, ultimately, games. Hobbes can keep telling himself the pick was 100% on Winslow but that just is not the case. It just isn't. If someone made a computer render of that exact play removing all the colours and names from the players so people wouldn't let their personal bias alter their perception and polled people I think even Hobbes, not seeing that #6 on the jersey, would say the QB shares at least a percentage of blame if not 100% of the blame. If that was his sole mistake you could maybe give it a bit of a pass but there were so many other little mistakes and then at least two massive ones that cost us points. I hope Smith rocks it against the Giants and wins the starting job. That's not because I hate Sanchez so much and think Smith is our saviour, it's because if he's not capable of beating out Sanchez to start we are in big, big trouble.
W, actually most forums make you scream that, but those little tid-bits of information that make you go:" HUH, I never thought of that", make it worthwhile wading through the 95% of crap. Anyway, since the ESPN JETS forum was shut down, I have been looking for a viable JETS forum and this one, I really enjoy so far! Thanks!
Thanks for this link, I hadn't thought to look at this. You know Hobbes loves to put a lot of emphasis on Sanchez's 98 QB rating in the first game....so I thought I'd see how his rating appears on this list. He doesn't even show up on the list of the top 49 players on the list...which means his rating is lower than 86.1, in fact it's 84.7. Which also makes him the Lowest rated QB on the team. Now QBR is a horrible stat that I never refer to as a rule, its among the least accurate indicators of a QB's real performance, but since Hobbes has been harping on it I figure it's worth pointing out that Sanchez's QBR for the pre season has him ranked #52, right behind that perennial all star Matt Cassel and right ahead of the QB stud Austin Davis.
that explains all the shitty posting lately. ESPN forums before it closed was filled with racist idiots. Then recently ESPN forced many to use FACEBOOK to comment, the place kinda died because those idiots couldn't hide anymore. So now they run to the ends of the internet to look for a new home. I'm not saying you are one of them, just stating what has always been known as a shitty community. Welcome, I guess.
I think in a "fair" competition and under different circumstances, he could beat out SANCHEZ but with REX trying to save his job this year, I dont think he believes that a rookie can go in there and be the difference. And again, I am not a SMITH FAN, but after seeing RGIII, LUCK, and WILSON (all rookies, lead there teams to great seasons, I would put SMITH in there in a heartbeat!
You know, consodering its a discussion thread, maybe you could tell me what I am wrong about. The throw was. Early a call for winslow, amd the other two recievers did the same theng, went forward, reading feet, for the cue to break under neath. Winslow took a blocking position on the dbs outsode ahoukder, like it was a run play.
MUTE, you are 100% correct. We had a big TEBOW fan who posted the most incredible RACIST posts, and seemed to bring out the worst in the forum. We had a very good circle of about 10 posters that would talk JETS football, and although many times, we were at diametrically different opinions, we were very civil to each other! I know I get passionate about the JETS and my views, but I will simply keep hammering away at what I believe are FACTS that back up my opinions. I hope I dont let you down!
Ok. Theres the box score. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore?gid=20130809008 My guess is your extensive football knowledge is leading you to confuse that made for TV ESPN stat, with the universally accepted Passer rating, But hey.... When you get your information, from ESPN, you must be a knowledgeable critic.
So far, I have read Mr. Hobbes posts, and although I DISAGREE with him 100% on SANCHEZ, he is very passionate about his support for SANCHEZ, and although I will argue with him about SANCHEZ's ability as an NFL QB, I respect someone who is so committed to a psoition as Mr. Hobbes is.
Not defending Sanchez or anything, only making an observation with numbers. During our first two preseason games last season under Sparano, Sanchez combined for 13/17 (76.4%) 80 yards, 0 TD's/1 INT, 5 sacks with a QB Rating of 61.65. During our first two preseason games this season under Marty M., Sanchez combined for 23/36 (63.9%), 294 yards, 2 TD's/2 INT's, 1 sack with a QB Rating of 84.7. I'm sorry (and this is coming from a Geno Smith supporter), but Sanchez' preseason hasn't been anything close to being as bad as some of these Sanchez critics are painting it out to be. For a matter of fact Sanchez ranks second amongst all NFL QB's in preseason yards and tied for 4th in TD's thrown. He's only been sacked 1 time (every QB has been sacked at least once, some as many as 5, 6 and 7). Week three is going to be a big week for Sanchez (importance wise) against a really good Giants defense (on the road). But to sit here and act as if Sanchez has failed thus far through the preseason due to two INT's is pretty off-basis. His completion percentage is at 63.9% under a new offensive coordinator when compared to his career average of 55.1%. He's not taking sacks and even seen him spike a ball last night on a broken play (crowd applauded). Is he performing like an All-Pro? No. Making preseason mistakes like mostly every other NFL Quarterback? Yes.
Sometimes he gets a little ridiculous though, as long as he keeps it in the Sanchez thread though, I have no problem with it.
