I really hope people don't get gassed up over this win tonite. The Jets played the equivalent of Northwestern. Perhaps Northwestern might be better than the Jags at this point.
We definitely didnt look to good. Blaine Gabbert looked like a pro-bowler vs what is supposed to be a top 10 defense.
"Assess your performance tonight?" "It was pretty good, we had good drives in the 1st half, second half we ran the ball out." What the hell did he do to his face?
Sanchez is good for a pick a game - and either it's a pick in the red zone, or a pick 6. Real bad. God fucking Awful is better than Sanchez's performance after the TD.
The sad part of all this is that all the QBs on our roster are being outplayed in practice by a guy that should't even be in the league.
I dont think he played as bad as some here are saying but I definitely want to see what Geno can do. We know we will get some bad turnovers with Nacho, and overall inconsistency.
just seen the replay. Hobbes was correct.... The receiver took a misstep and was initially open. The blame is on the receiver for stepping behind. Yes, Hill was getting open but im not going to knock Sanchez for that throw because he did see an open. If the reciever would of stayed put, caught the ball, that would of been a touchdown this thread burns. If someone has another angle, please upload. But once again, on this second chance to throw a TD in the RZ I think in the 2nd q, Gates was open in front and he should of connected for an easy TD. He didnt. Still overall he had a good game and leaves next week 3 to be a very interesting game as im confused how the Jets will manage all these QBs since Mark damn near played all 3qs.........
And....27 points? 2nd game in a new offense.l? 99.8 qBR last week, and 27 points... Thats what we are bitching about? And unlike the Ziggy pick where he was guilty of not locating the receiver...this was a simple mismatch of perception. Sanchez thought Winslow should have taken the inside shoulder, and come underneath. Winslow, thought he needed to take the outside shoulder, so Hill could come underneath. Id side with Sanchez, bc it was a bang bang play, so Winslow shouldnt have been blocking, but Ill just say that this one is obvious in the Film room, and they wont make that mistake again.
This one gets fixed in the film room. Winslow has to come between the defender and the QB. On a deeper play, Winslow would have been right because the LBers have time to rotate ito the lane But the down and distance made it a bang bang play.underneath.
I would rate his performance as a bit better than average Sanchez performance. It was very similar to the Lions game where like the Lions the Jags did not play defense, left him a clean pocket, gave him all the time in the world to throw and left his receivers uncovered he was able to complete passes. Another very impressive night by the OL and WRs. When the opposing defense did not pressure him he showed improved footwork, more decisiveness in getting the ball out, and slightly improved accuracy. But in the 2nd quarter when they put pressure on him he imploded. His footwork suffered, he threw bad bad inaccurate passes, he lost vision of the field, rushed his decisions and throws and like normal his bad play carried over to plays when he was not pressured. On the positive side he had no fumbles, his meltdowns and panic attacks were not near as bad as normal and he even threw the ball away on a screen pass. But overall we learned very little. For most part this was like the Bills game game 1 last year and the Lions game where the other defense did not show up to play. For the 1st quater it was a touch football game made for a QB that is much better at touch football than tackle football. It is hard to judge a player like Sanchez in pre-season when his problems all involve being under pressure which we will not really see until the regular season. Overall I think his mechanics and decisiveness have improved over the 1st 4 years. But when things go bad his mechanics always collapse. IMO its to ealy to call him improved or any better than the last 4 years. We will have to wait and see what happens when he is pressured int he regular season. The key IMO to Sanchez this year will be to keep his confidence up and limit his exposure to making mistakes. When he starts going bad simply run the ball and punt. Don't let it escalate into full panic mode. If the defense can play like it has the last 4 years that would be enough to keep us in most games.
