Because there was no credible offense around him, not system wise, not talent wise.?..

The guy got to six wins...with an OC, that isnt an OC, and Holmes,Hill,Keller missing approx 30 games.

No #1, no #2, no pass carching TE. No OC.

Yeah...its Sanchez fault. And thas his ONE losing season

It's not his fault but as the QB you have to be the best player even in tough times

Mark is only good when he's surrounded by superior talent and coddled

Also I think Sanchez starts the year off, Rex proves us right and his ego, pride and loyalty get in the way

    I agree.
If Rex is slow to pull the trigger and move to Geno, unfortunately it may just cost him his job.

    Something we'd have to accept

Most of us want to keep Rex but Rex wants Sanchez, Idzik wants Geno

Loyalty will be the end of Rex sadly

If Rex was loyal to Sanchez he would bench him let him get his last big payday and mercilessly cut him at the end of the season and give him a good reference upon completion. The only thing that could come from Sanchez starting this year is his permanent exit from the NFL.

    Link??
coz you repeatedly post this same nonsense sentiment.

this notion of 'loyalty' affecting who is starting is complete bullshit, and Rex has 0 incentive to start Sanchez over the QB of the future, when Rex himself is trying to be a part of the Jets future.

People have to relax... Nacho will hang himself like he always does and Geno will start week 1

Mark Sanchez is CFL bound in less than a year.

Speculation but Sanchez is Rex's guy his first son

Idzik drafted Geno knowing he had Sanchez

He was going to cut him prior to camp if you can paraphrase his interview with Francesa

It's all obvious but guys don't think so

and what exactly makes Sanchez 'Rex's first son'?

did you see the disgust on Rex face when he looked at sanchez skipping around after the Tennessee game?
sanchez is the opposite of a Rex type QB, as he turns the ball over repeatedly and isn't really tough in any way.
This 'loyalty to Sanchez' thing u have got into your head is off base.

and while Idzik likely realizes Sanchez is not the answer, he has no motivation to start Geno immediately either unless he is very ready.

You are trying to boil this thing down to some oversimplified overreaction, just like the media does. i expect more from informed posters here.

Idzik drafted Geno, after passing on him,not once but twice.

    Value Pick.

No one would have batted an eyelash, if he took Richardson at 9, and Geno at 13. Which...lif his feelings were what you assert, he would have CB...was not a need.

If El Guapo does well and Geno stinks up the field, this board is going to implode.

Marty Mornhinweg on why Sanchez is starting Friday night: "He's earned it. He's had an outstanding training camp." #Jets

    Manish Mehta
Marty says Geno Smith has taken a little bit of a dip recently. "I expected it earlier. He's got to power through it. It's just that simple"

Mornhinweg says Sanchez will take majority of reps with first team on Fri vs. Lions. Geno will take "a little with 1s & he'll take the 2s"

    Randy Lange
MM: Consistency, accuracy and footwork have all improved for Mark Sanchez throughout camp.

    I disagree.

Dee Milliner was the best player in the draft and he fell to #9 and we lost Revis. Yes, we have good depth at corner BUT Milliner is a special player that IMO Idzik, Rex and Woody couldn't pass on. He simply was the best player available.

Richardson also was a need to solidify our line up front and move Coples to OLB. He IMO was the best DL in the draft and it would have been foolish to not take him.

I think Idzik knew if Buffalo wasn't going to take Geno he would fall to us, that is why he drafted him in the 2nd round. That is why we didn't trade up after Buffalo took EJ! Idzik knew nobody else was taking a QB because it wasn't a position of need.

MS has only missed 1 game in his career due to injury and repeatedly got his head kicked in in many games in 2011 with WfH, he might not be the most macho guy on the field but with the beating the kid has taken both mentally and physically you can't really claim he's not tough.

You're going to catch hell for posting this. None of these three guys are worth a shit, not one of them has integrity or knows the game of football, they all hate the Jets and it's all a big conspiracy.

If loyalty is the only reason MS has a shot then why is it our OC, who has no affiliation with Rex or Sanchez, would say something like "Sanchez Has earned the start" or that "he's having an outstanding camp"?

Richardson, was the bigger upside player on defense. DL makes corners better.

And Milliner was a top 10 prospect, not the best player in the draft.

So was Geno. Allegedly. My point is, if QB is a dire need...you dont sit till 39.

Wilson had a good year opposit cro, you could have gone, Richardson,Smith,Honey badger,,,,if QB was the concern everyone thought it was.
