ER U left out the biggie IMHO which is lack of ability to make quick smart decisions. It is because of that that he has so many INTs

That's also why he has so many back shoulder throws on crossing patterns and throws behind the receiver in the flats. He throws the ball a split-second late on bang-bang plays.

Yeah, Ive read that scouting report before... And many of the positives are no longer positives. Like I said, neither the coaching staff NOR Sanchez himself rally utilized his skill set properly. Sanchez really never realized or tapped into whatever said talent he had.

I think its pretty clear that in the NFL, Sanchez is not a cerebral player. He's probably one of the worst QBs in the league when it comes to that aspect (just look at his turnovers). His anticipation is also shit, which is a huge factor in the success of the WCO. I also think his arm strength is nothing to note at all. I could name 20 QBs in the league with definitely better arms. Id have a hard time naming 5 with notably worse arms.

The only real positive that they listed that still seemingly exist in him now, is his ability when rolling out of the pocket. When you think about his negatives (lack of being able to make quick, multiple reads and is NOT a cerebral player), it makes sense, because on playaction, you typically only have a couple of reads which minimizes the decision making for him.

Im not disputing his talent entering the league. I am disputing his talent NOW. Because many of those listed positives, have definitely took a turn. And many of those negatives still exist. That is due to coaching, yes, but its also on the player himself.

Personally, I would much rather work with Geno Smith being that he is more talented than Sanchez right NOW. If you compared the two when Sanchez came out of college, to now, things might be different obviously. Hopefully the coaching staff can do a better job with Geno. Imo, Sanchez is past the point of repair and no coach can save him.

Objectively, it is NOT clear that he is not a cerebral player. Every report says hes great in the film room and great on thepractice field. Then throws picks in games.

That makes Pennington the control, and Schotty the constant.

Two things cannot be disputed. Penny os regarded as a cerebral QB. That started throwing uncharacteristic picks under Schotty, then ....stopped in 2008.

The conclusion to that equation should be clear absent bias.

And, while Sanchez threw more picks, hes also produced more scores.

Clearly, "cerebral" quarterbacks do not forget the playcall between the huddle and the snap.

Does Bradford's improved play factor into your Schotty Creates INTs. theory?

It'll be interesting to see where Bradford winds up this year. Hit Int% last year was higher than his "bad" sophomore season and about the same as his rookie year, which is when most QB's have among their highest Int%'s.

Having watched Schotty's offense over 6 seasons in NY there is no question for me that it creates more interceptions than would otherwise be there. We'll see if Bradford takes a step up this year or just languishes in his 20th spot in the NFL vicinity. I suspect it'll be the latter but the 4th year is special for some QB's and marks their transition to an elite QB.

Cmon Hobbes, Sanchez has been everything BUT cerebral when he's been here. On and off the field.

Sanchez has been the most mistake/wrong decision prone QB since he's entered the league. Im sure Schotty's system didnt help, but that certainly is not an excuse for Mark in this case.

    Not really.

That would rely on an observation of the St.Louis offense, prior.....as well, as watching the St.Louis offense during the season.

It is unequivocal that in the Jets game, Bradford looked like Sanchez. Especially in the Eric Smith pick.

P.S. who had the better overall numbers, Sanchez i. 2011, or Bradford on 2012?

and since you jumped in with the (inaccurate ) Bradford argument....

    Explain Pennington?

Hey, you can make the statement all you want, but every bit of reporting from those closer than us says otherwise, and why do you keep dancing around how the same results, only worse, overcame Pennington, under the same OC?
Pennington, regarded as a cerbeal QB, managed a +1 td/int ratio, in both years.

Did he suddenly become not cerebral, then cerebral again when he got to Miami?

    Inaccurate?

How so? He improved last year under Schottenheimer. I just asked if you factored that into your theory. His #'s are close to Sanchez '11 but at least he wasn't throwing into triple coverage or ramming his head up his lineman's ass. Sanchez's play just got worse.

Sanchez threw just as many ints. under Sparano... with one less game played and 100 fewer pass attempts. Oh yeah, Sparano sucks too.

I'm still waiting for evidence of Sanchez being a "cerebral" quarterback.
    So's the rest of America.

But hey, if Cromartie can flip his image 180, maybe Sanchez can too. Though, getting toasted and dancing around bare-assed is a bad way to start.

    "Every bit of reporting"....you're hilarious.

I'm sure he spends long hours in the film room...he needs to.
Some students study their ass off...and fail tests.

    Sanchez cerebral?....

    1. Sanchez sucks. We all know that.

    2. That said, Bradford did NOT improve much. His second year was such a total disaster - that's all there is to it. Bradford was sacked more in his 3rd year in fewer pass attempts than he was in his rookie year. He was sacked sacked roughly 35 times a year, so don't expect him to be doing anything fancy. [My contention has always been that, barring the outlying situations, you cannot let your QB get sacked more than 2 times a game - that is, 32 sacks a year.] Completion ratio was about the same (60% in his rookie year to 59.5% in his 3rd year), and his TD improved by 3 while INT decreased by 2, again, compared to his rookie year.

So, from the frame of the full picture, Bradford in year 3 had better weapons than he did in year 1, and still got sacked about as much, and completed about as much. He only has his TD/INT numbers to speak of, and these improvements have been marginal at best.

    3. In his defense, Bradford was completing pretty high percentage of passes already (60%), so there isn't much room for improvement, even though you'd want to get the pass ratio to be around 63~65%. Other than that, though, if he was taking as many sacks in his 3rd year as he did in his rookie year, in less pass attempts [He was sacked 34 times out of 590 drop backs in his rookie year; in 3rd year, he was sacked 35 times out of 551 drop backs.] you have to doubt the system he's running. He obviously has the accuracy you'd want from the QB, and his low INT numbers say he can feel where the coverages are. So if his feel in the pocket is getting worse, that either means his protection broke down real bad, or he has to hold on to the ball longer than he should [thanks to that dumb fuck of a play design.] I'd go with the second. I'm sure a certain ex-QB named Mr. Brett Favre will agree with me on this too.

    3. This thread is not about how awesome Sam Bradford is. [He isn't, by the way.] But, Sanchez is cerebral? - you've got my vote on that issue. Sanchez is NOT a cerebral QB. Period.

    4. Such is a Jets luck - if Jets had rookie Pennington this year starting for them, they would surely go to the playoffs - and in coming years, beyond.

So, explain Penningtons Sanchez like performance under Schotty.

Every time hes been handed a playbook, its been commented on how quickly hes picked it up.

I just want someon to explain to me how someone that is is undisputed as a 'cerebral'qb ....put up the same performances in the same offense.

Penningtons play sucked, under Schotty. So, was he not cerebral, and an Int machine, or was his oerformance ....IN THAT OFFENSE....uncharacteristic of the QB he is?

    Its a simple question.

Please. Sanchez scored 32 times in 2011, and won one more game with less talent.

Sparano? 2012? holmes, gone. Hill a rookie starter, gone for 8. Keller gone for 8. Gates.Gilyard.Rueland. A second year with a shit RT.

And you blame the QB, for not being Sammy Baugh, are you joking.

Just explain, how for those two years, Pennington, played like Sanchez?

I would also ask ne other question...we have all seen Sanchez make big plays in Big spots in big games, to lead the Jets to a victory.

Since 2006, how often did Schottys brilliant game plan overtake a good defense?
