Numbers don't lie, bud. Where was Sanchez? In the bottom half of the league among starting QBs? Ah, yes, where he always is. You're more delusional than Tebow fans if you really believe Sanchez was the reason for those AFCCGs.
I don't know about Hobbes, but I'll tell you what it tells ME. Obviously the Pats forum is infested with average fans who don't know how to tell good QB play from incompetent QB play. I guess they need to be reminded of how Sanchez outplayed Brady in 2010 ... And at the same time ignore just about every other game he's played against them ... Or the rest of the league for that matter. On second thought, why wake them up? Let them sleep on Sanchez. As soon as we're able to assemble a team of future HOFers to put around him, Sanchez will "lead" us up to Foxboro and lay another asswhipping on them. The funny thing is, I bet if you went to the Dolphins forum, Bills forum, or any other NFL team forum that's on our 2013 schedule, they probably feel the same way. Why don't people realize just how good this guy is??
Lets not forget against the Patriots where Hill dropped that pass there were other scoring opportunities that Sanchez blew all on his own. Yes the Hill drop was bad, yes it cost the team 6 points, but as I pointed out many pages ago in this thread there were 4 other scoring chances that Sanchez missed throws on. I'm not excusing Hills drop, but I'm not putting that loss squarely on his shoulders. Nor am I saying the Jets are a bad team because of Sanchez, or rather only because of Sanchez. But Sanchez does Nothing to make the team better, he's a subpar performer who needs a very very good team around him to make him look like a decent QB. QB is the one position where you can truly make everyone around you better, or worse. Sadly most of the time Sanchez falls in to the latter. The team was built to win in 2008-2010, and people were expecting the team to start tailing off due to age and the lack of draft picks over the years staring around 2011. The problem is when the team started dropping off Mark didn't pick it up. He has poor judgment on the field, poor field vision, a slow release, and he's convinced himself that double and triple pumps work in the NFL. Mark has one of the longest "hold" time of all the QB's in the league. Last year only two QB's had longer "hold times" than Sanchez between the time he got the ball and either passed it or moved it beyond the line of scrimmage...and the two that had longer hold times were both Running QB's, one of which was RG III. It's true that the O-line last year was porus and a substantial drop off from the O-Line of 2009-2010. But Mark doesn't do the O-line any favors by holding the ball so long.
Sadly you can't even blame the o-line, they improved a lot especially down the stretch. Remember, they were switching from a zone to a man blocking scheme. Blame Tanny for bringing in Hill to play such a significant role when he wasn't ready (spend another 2nd round pick for a "project" player). Blame Shawn Greene for being so bad that he got outplayed by Powell, who aint anything special. Keller for either being invisible or injured...I am glad those two are gone. Only great QBs could make up for that lack of talent. Peyton, Brady, Brees, etc can throw that ball and make anybody look good. I think these guys not taking anything off of Sanchez significantly made him hold onto the ball longer. I wish we could have gotten more offensive weapons in the draft, but I think Idzik would rather build both lines before chasing any skilled position that wasn't considered a top talent.
The absolute ignorance, over what a June 1st cut actually means is astounding. And, FWIW...if that simple concept escapes you..,any contextual football ovservation, is beyond you. Stick with your calendar math.
rofl. And you are still too stupid, to understand what a June 1st cut is. So, the list of June 2 ridicules, is a9,joke, and TnJet.
Today on twitter, Sanchez tweeted something sentimental about Mother's day and the first response was "you're a horrible quarterback."... That made me lol. Hatred knows no bounds, I guess.
thats all kinds of wrong... yet I can't stop laughing. he's earned scrutiny but jeez all he's talking about is mothers day, i think he's a mediocre player but that doesn't warrant bringing that up in response to something unrelated and innocent. ...on the other hand its kind of comedic to think of a world where he's literally told that any time he says ANYTHING. cashier- welcome to Wendy's how can I help you? Sanchez- uh, I'd like a 10 piece chicken nug-. cashier- you're a horrible Quarterback. Sanchez- ... um, yeah and some fries please. **** Friend- happy birthday mark! Sanchez- oh wow thanks man I- Friend- you're a horrible Quarterback. Sanchez-... could of sent me a card or something... **** Rex Ryan- Well Mark we've got some stiff competition for you this year but I, along with John and Marty here, have every confidence you have the capacity to start for us and you'll be given as fair a shot to succeed as anybody else here. Sanchez- Thank you coach, I'll do my very best to win for this te- Ryan/Idzik/Mornhinweg- You're a horrible quarterback. Sanchez- ... Rex- So uh yeah, anyway, see you at training camp.
I find it hilarious for Hobbes to shit on Geno for leaving the draft early when Sanchez is the same dude who came to a postgame press conference with a pre-written statement after a shitty game.
Pointless? 420 pages says otherwise. This thread is the repository of all the bitterness that Jet fans feel. It's not about Mark Sanchez. It's about us.
Hill wasn't expected to play a major role last year, but when Holmes went down he was elevated from the slot/#3 or 4 receiver to the number 2 or 3 reciever. Its speaks more of the lack of depth at WR than expectations of Hill. Secondly despite what fans think of Greene he was a reliable running back if you were looking for 3-5 yards a carry, he wasn't a home run hitter but he was a pretty consistant 3-5 yard guy. Here's a hint, you don't average around 4 yards a carry and have only 5 runs over 20 yards all season (with a long of just over 30 yards) without being consistent in the short running game. The problem with Greene is that he runs like a FB but the Jets needed him to be a traditional halfback. As for Keller, I find the hatred of him amusing. For his career he'd been on the field in every game and started most of them. Last year he got injured and suddenly He's injury prone and disappears on the field. However, until last season he was consistantly the teams #1 or #2 team leader in receptions. With a competent QB and offensive system, unlike last year, I would look for a 1,000 yard+ season from Keller.
If your team's starting QB is 35th best out of 32-team league, your fan base will hate him, and every other team's fan base will love him. Just, Pats fans' Sanchez love (or Bills or Dolphins for that matter) is magnified because Pats and Jets play at the same division. (In other words, fans from other teams can't care enough.)
