Possibly, but there have been teams that have done well without having a good QB too, ala Trent Dilfer. So if we're judging the proportion of value provided, Sanchez would lean more towards Dilfer than the type of Qbs that carried their team. I think most would agree that our playoff runs were more a result of an overall good team, rather than Sanchez carrying us close to the promised land.

I believe Shaun King "led" the Bucs to an NFC Championship game too, but I doubt we'd be calling him anything but a backup QB.

Explain to me how that makes their completion percentages behind the LOS better and his worse? You're really telling me it is more practice?

So if I go up the list to better QBs should I expect to see a dip in their completion % behind the LOS? Do you really want me to go there or will you just stop before you embarrass yourself?

Lol me a homer? Nah, more like realist that understands both sides of the coin. Facts are facts, Sanchez was playing pretty well until Von Miller and Jason Babin got in that ass. As soon as people realize one player isn't the reason for the inept offense the faster we can close this thread. I thought Mark played well until the Broncos game.

You're feeling better about your argument than it actually is because you are building a straw man. The people in this thread who have argued that Sanchez sucks have said repeatedly that they consider the circumstances and aren't saying he is the sole reason for the inept offense.

Infact, here is a nice comparison:

In 2000, King had these stats, as compared to Sanchez in 2010, when he was such a great leader of men. Both guys ended up in the championship game.

    Completion %;

    King: 54.4
    Sanchez: 54.8

    TD:

    King: 18
    Sanchez: 17

    INT:

    King: 13
    Sanchez: 13

    Rating:

    King: 75.8
    Sanchez: 75.3

    Fumbles:

    King: 4
    Sanchez: 9

    Rushing:

    King: 353 Yards
    Sanchez: 105 Yards
    _________________________________________

Very similar numbers, where both QBs tagged along on the coat tails of a very good defense, and a nice running game.

What happened to King after the season he "led" them to the NFC Championship game? He didn't start a game. They replaced him with Brad Johnson, because they recognized he wasn't going to cut it. But here we are, 2 years AFTER Sanchez has a similar year, arguing that he needs another shot possibly.

^Junc is an expert at finding reasons for why the best comparisons aren't similar enough for his liking.

    more practice? what?

all that means is that those guys generally toss more balls to their backs than would be seen in a typical offense. your talking about fucking blaine gabbert and kyle orton and colt mccoy and john skelton... are you really about to say that these guys are better than mark sanchez? because if thats the case, ill let you embarrass yourself all over this forum

and just to reiterate before i ultimately start ignoring you again. this is a jets board. dont you have a bunch of fancy new free agents to talk about with your fellow miami fans?

They may say that, but they don't apply it to their arguments. If that were the case this thread would be archived by now. I don't need. I'm not arguing about this, I already know Mark is done here.

Can you please try to keep up?

I never said that those guys are better than Sanchez. The argument is about how piss poor Sanchez' short accuracy is because Hobbes loves to bring up how the Jets need to throw more dumpoffs.

I responded with the fact that everybody has seen Sanchez' short accuracy to be terrible and the stats bear that out. He tried and failed to make the argument that in 2011 Sanchez had closer to normal stats compared to his peers.

I showed that was obviously not the case.

Get it? I know it frustrates you that I know football more than you but don't bring up my team as if that makes my argument less valid. Bring a better argument instead of being a crybaby.

    whatever guy

72.2% isnt so far off from the stats you posted as to warrant anything you are saying

my only point in bringing up your team is simply this. THIS IS A JETS MESSAGEBOARD. WHY ARE YOU HERE WHEN OFFSEASON PROGRAMS ARE STARTING AND YOUR TEAM HAS A SHITLOAD OF NEW PLAYERS?

    you are a troll

oh whatever he's not being objectionably erratic or trollish, let the phin fan stay.

He and others will be fun to watch when our team has worked out its kinks and beats their asses in december.:finssuck:

I seriously want sanchez to be our alex smith.

at best we have a trading chip, at worst a very experienced backup for a our young stud.

I'm hoping MM delivers that much.

He's really not. You're bringing up his team because he's here arguing against a player on ours. At least be honest about your argument.

Quit crying already and ignore him. At least we won't have to deal with you cluttering this thread up with a terrible argument.

    He didn't, and you are.

You don't even know the level of currency this coin is, or you wouldn't be treating it like a useless penny.

Our signal caller stopped being effective. Maybe it was at one point, maybe another. You are wasting your time arguing when, when you should be trying to figure out what happens next.

That's what homers do. They argue about the small details and ignore the big ones.

The future of this team is happening. You are jerking off to the irrelevant past.

First of all it was a quarter not a penny, get it right. 2nd, if the Jets couldn't properly develop Sanchez, what makes you think they could properly develop Geno Smith? Our so called future. You can talk shit all you want but the fact of the matter is the Jets have issues developing players on offense. This has affected our past, present and future. So instead of calling me a homer, look in the mirror and question your own mindset.

My issue affects the Jets going forward, I already know we are moving on. Maybe you should get better at comprehending instead of being a lil Jet hater.

Is there another QB in history of this league to throw two INTs to a nose tackle in one game?

im bringing up his team because for the life of me i cant understand why someone would give a shit about what a rival team is doing at this moment. all i care about is the jets and the things that they are doing to field a competitive team next season.

if i werent drunk irght now it wouldnt even have escalated to this point. im not gonna respond anymore to his crap, ill just say one thing and thatll be that for at least the night haha (well, it is a messageboard full of bickering)

mark sanchez isnt the best quarterback by any means. he is not even that good if you judge him by his stats. that doesnt mean that he hasnt shown enough to at least warrant another shot with a real offensive coach calling the shots. the fact that the front office has not taken steps to avoid sanchez at all costs should give some weight to that argument, but i digress. nothing sanchez has done has been so bad that he must never be given the chance to start for this team again. in fact, some of the things he has done have earned him the right to fight for that very position.

hes had good times and bad times, but his good is high enough to at least let him compete for the job and to get behind him if he wins it come opening day this saeson.

The future is coming. But you only pretend to understand it. It's what obvious homers do. Don't deny your nature.

The Jets have ruined Sanchez. That's not a theory, it is a reality. Stop pretending at realism when you can't comprehend it.

Now they have a coach in the offense that has proven to develop quarterbacks as a coordinator. Not a pretender QB coach that had QBs develop after he left, not a non-OC that was a running game specialist.

Will it work? We don't know. What we do know is that it is a better situation than what we had.

Smith may not be and is likely not the answer. But we didn't spend multiple picks to grab him in the first, so I'm fine with that. But we need a solid system in place in order to develop a QB.

    That's coming.

And you're a fucking homer. I've read your posts. They stink of it.

I was referring to the number of receptions, by players coming out of the backfield.

Youre the one thats incorrect, because you failed to grasp the premise.

This is the lamest of all arguments, its like I ran over your cat but your better off now becaue you don't have to feed it. It's rationalization after the fact in order to try compensate and excuse bad play.

The fact is yes you can look at it in hindsight and say no harm done, but just because that was the outcome in that specific instance doesn't mean that was the likely outcome. You have argued repeatedly that the Jets couldn't stop the Pats offense, so your logic is turning the ball over to an offense the Jets couldn't stop, in your words, was a positive thing?

Dude your like Wiley Coyote who in the act of chasing the elusive roadrunner finds himself over the cliff with no solid ground beneath him...I'm just waiting for you to look down and realize the spot your in.
