Wow! You really have no faith in our coaches and new GM if you are worried about draft picks playing this year.

If the guys that are currently on the roster can't beat out draft picks, then that would mean they are worse. What kind of team gets worse after a draft? You trying to hinge the bet on who we pick up in the draft really speaks volumes of how little you think of our coaches and GM and how delusional you are when it comes to Sanchez.

Garard didnt play the last 2 years, and was still more productive then sanchez, since sanchez had an enormous negative value. no one is saying garrard is great, but his worst season in pro football is better then sanchez best. garrard is an average pro. sanchez is among the worst to every play the posiiton for us.

team accomplishments. the jets top 3 defense and #1 running game were the reasons we made the playoffs in '09 and '10, not sanchez, who was completely awful.

sanchez isnt good. him being our backup doesnt make us any better then having garrard or greg as a backup. because sanchez is terrible.

and you saying idzik is risking his job earler by going with one of them over sanchez as a backup in a rebuild year is just comical

trade in your sanchez pajamas. its over.

This is the dumbest thing that has been written in the 350+ pages in the post.

    1) A GM's Choice of backup QB, in a rebuilding year, is not going to "risk" his career with the team. that is just an idiotic statement and you should be ashamed you posted it.

    2) Sanchez is not light years better then anyone. He had one of the worst seasons in team history and has been one of the 2 or 3 worst starting players in football during his 4 years.

McElroy isnt great. Garrard isnt great. but they arent worst then sanchez. and even if they are, its moot, since sanchez isnt good, and him being our backup changes nothing other then putting is in worse cap shape for 2014.

    1) sanches has never had a better season then garrard. sanchez best season isnt anywhere near an average season for garrard. garrard has been much better.

    2) there is a reason mike mayock is making statements that prove to be wrong isntead of working in some teams front office. because he is a buffoon.

    3) sanchez can stay on the field, sure... but thats not a good thing, because we he plays, he hurts the team tremendously.

It's best to cut bait with Sanchez you need to have backup QB's that support the starter. Having both Smith and Sanchez is just gonna create a toxic environment. Sanchez is gonna feel slighted to get benched in favor for Geno. So instead you get rid of Sanchez along with Tebow and Simms. If they decide to start Garrard then at least when Smith takes over Garrard will be on board and be willing to accept a backup/mentor role to the young guy.

Sanchez has a 90+ QB Rating in 6 playoff games.

Just saying, so when we get our QB who is great in the regular season and sucks in the playoffs.....

I'd take that over having the worst starting QB in the league.

Here is what I would do tomorrow or Monday:

    -Release Tim Tebow
    -Release David Garrard

Go into season with 1. Sanchez 2. Smith 3. McElroy.

Hope Sanchez outplays Smith (which he should with ease), and plays well. Then groom Smith for the future to attempt to start in year 2 or 3 or hopefully never.

What will happen instead though is Sanchez and Tebow will be released, Garrard and Smith will battle it out in TC and the Jets will go 2-14 either way.

I would take the cap hit now and release Sanchez and Tebow. Let Smith and Garrard compete for the starting job. 1/2. Garrard/Smith 3. McElroy

No one wants to see Sanchez and keeping him on the team will send bad vibes in the locker room and to it's fan base.

Honestly i think it's a mircale of sanchez is on the roster come 6/2/13, if you're going to groom smith then garrard is the only option IMO. I don't see a logical argument for the other side.

You have GOT to be fucking kidding me! So you're going to release a stable quarterback in Garrard for a turnover prone wimp in Sanchez? And then you think he's going to beat Geno Smith with ease...? Wow..

You're out of your mind. That, or Sanchez's junk must taste reeeaaalllly good.

Hey Hobbes, how does it make you feel that you were and are completely wrong? Remember when you said the Jets were completely behind Sanchez? That he was our future, and there was no way in hell that the Jets would even think about drafting a QB?

Well sorry buddy, they did think about it, and they did draft a QB. Good times!!!

It's perpetually fascinating to me how utterly delusional the Sanchez nut-huggers are on this board. What have you seen over the last two years (I have to ask) that would make you think that Sanchez has the ability to outplay ANYONE? Sanchez is a quintessentially awful starting quarterback and Idzik apparently has the balls to at least consider not letting Sanchez's embarrassingly preposterous contract force the Jets into keeping him any longer than they have to.

That was more a knock on Smith, who I have seen play just as much as Sanchez the last 3 years. He is just not good. Terrible under pressure. Not very smart. That was in college. Now playing against pro defenses? Yikes. Sanchez would win that battle, in my opinion.

To mark sanchez: It was fun when the rest of the team made you look great in the 09' and 2010 season. Too bad they could not carry you all the way to a super bowl.. Now you are the joke of the nfl with your buttfumble type plays. Hope you save some of that money since you are gonrna need it for a lawyer since you like to date teenagers. The Geno Smith era is now upon us and us jet fans will alway's remember your poor QBR ratings for years to come. Now idzik is gonna just pay you and cut your ass. Tanny should have listen to pete caroll's advise on you declaring early(probably for the $$).

Don't worry you still have your apologists that think it was everyone else's fault. Even though you had 3 pro bowl linemen,3 very good WR's that tanny traded all our picks for and a first round TE in Keller. Oh yeah let's not forget LT coming in and bailing you out with your cheezy check downs. Hopefully they follow you to the next team you destroy!

    You Stink ! NewYorkEverything

As if all QBs are in equal situations.

Yes, of course I forgot, we had the greatest offense in the history of the NFL last year. Unfortunately Mark Sanchez was there to stop it.

A lot of scouts would vehemently disagree with your assessment of Smith . . .
But regardless, despite what you, I, or anyone else may say about him now, none of us knows for sure what Geno Smith will become in the pros. All we can do is offer our opinions, conjecture, and outright guesses. He's an unknown when it comes to the NFL.

We can't say the same for Sanchez. Anyone with a shred of intellectual honestly who has watched him play for more than 10 minutes realizes he's a particularly horrible NFL quarterback. He's had four years, two of which with a sufficiently stacked team around him, to prove otherwise. It's time to move on and rid ourselves of a psychologically broken down player who is, arguably, the worst tenured starting quarterback in the entire NFL.
