Going spread on 3rd and 1 from the 2 with no back in the backfield was possibly the most retarded play call I have ever seen given the Pats weren't stopping the Jets run game today. It was Schotty-esque. if the Jets run the ball there they have two possible positive results: 1st down on the 1 or TD. If they throw it they have only one. And they're going to be kicking a FG if they don't hit the pass. If they keep a back in the backfield and have Sanchez under center they preserve the option to play-action. Going spread there was like fantasizing that they had Tom Brady or Peyton Manning at QB. Really?

He had three turnovers in the game, all his fault - one of them on what should have been a bomb for a TD. Stephen Hill's drop was hideous but he's a rookie. Sparano's playcall on the goalline was moronic but he's not getting fired after seven games anyway. The special teams fvck up was unfortunate, but it's not like they do it every week the way Sanchez does.

In my opinion: #1 (by miles) was play calling. On the 3rd and goal you take two cracks at it on the ground, give to green twice, give it to green once and tebow once whatever but you have to run it instead of taking what amounts to be a low percentage short pass play. a distant 2nd is: #2 three turnovers by Sanchez #3 that hill drop was huge. He might even have scored on that play.

BFD, the Pats still had a minute and a half left and a timeout. The ten yards could have been crippling if Folk had missed. A 40+ yarder is not a chip shot, a 30+ is. Get the lead first, THEN worry about that ****. If he was on the five then I'd say a timeout is more important than ten yards but he wasn't.
