I am 41. Sanchez is a slab of shit on stale bread.

I'll take Testaverde, O'Brien, Pennington, Favre, and Esiason over Mark.

Namath was the best and Sanchez ranks just above O'Donnell and bloody blister.

Add in Matt Robinson, Richard Todd, Bubby Brister, Browning Nagle, Pat Ryan and more. Sanchez is the worst QB we have seen in quite awhile. he does nothing well. The damning thing about Sanchez he has the worst of all QBs with none of the upside. He turns ball over at rate as high as any bad Qb that has played the game but has none of these bad QBs upsides. He cannot throw the ball unless he has a clean pocket and his receivers are uncovered. He has no pocket presence, takes unnecessary sacks, plays scared, is afraid to take hits. Simply the worst QB the Jets have ever had. He is a flag football player not a NFL qb. the game is to fast and to tough for him. He makes more mistakes than Testaverde with none of Vinny's upside, ability to throw the ball down the field, toughness or leadership skills. He has worse pocket skills and takes more silly sacks than O'Brien while lacking OBriens toughness, accuracy and ability to throw the ball down the field. He is simply the worst QB we have ever seen in Green and White and I have watched jets games for 45+ years.

The only reason Sanchez has survived this long is he has been protected more than any QB has ever been proctected. During his 1st two years he was not allowed to throw the ball in passing situations. 3rd and long forget. Defenses never worried about Sanchez and played 8-9 men in the box. He never had to play like a normal QB against defenses trying to confuse him, playing from behind, worrying about a pass rush. With the emphasis on the run the Jets could hide Sanchez's limitations and weaknesses. But everytime they have tried to open the offense and give him more room he has failed miserably and it has to closed up to essentially handingt he ball off. Todays game was like the Colts playoff win. We had to take the ball out of Sanchez's hands and run the ball all 2nd half because we did not want him losing the game. The Colts playoff win was one of the worst games a NFL Qb has ever played. he was brutal like he is almost every time he has to throw in passing situations. Defenses know he is weak and that he gives up when pressured. The man has no upside and is not a NFL caliber QB. If the Jets want to stand a chance of winning he needs to be run out of town.

I think Sanchez regains his confidence by getting some playmakers. At least enough that he can be an effective game manager. He is playing with the hands down worst WR core in the league. It was bad with Holmes and Keller playing and horrible now.

The running game has been mediocre at best until the last few weeks.

Draft a QB, have an open competition in 2013 (Sanchez is no longer the Sanchize), and play the best man. If its Sanchez, great. If not, pull him and play McElroy or the rookie.

It's amazing to me there's still even an argument about this. Everywhere you look, from stats to tape, the guy just isn't playing good football. Let's be real here, if we didn't establish the run today, we were going to lose to the Jags. The Jags for Christ's sake. One of the worst teams in the league from top to bottom.

There is no argument that Sanchez is playing like hot garbage. The argument is whether he is worth keeping if he gets back to 2009-2010 like stats and playing. And if so, would a way to get him there be improving the skill positions.

Thank you for saying this and saving me the time. I've been watching since 81 and by no means is Sanchez the best i've seen. I'd even throw Todd and Lucas to that list..

I would take Browning Nagle over Mark at this point.

He didn't have good stats in those years! He was so frustrating to watch then as well. The point is, there is no progress. His best year was 2010, and even statistically it wasn't a very good year.

I had to look up the stats for Lucas

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/1161/year/1999/ray-lucas

Yeah Id take him over Sanchez. I regret looking it up though, 1999 was painful.

I'm nearly 25. I remember some God awful seasons. But Sanchez isn't even close to being the second most successful QB in the history of the franchise. He didn't take the Jets to two AFCC games. The rest of the team pulled him that far.

Joe Namath was better (But that's a given).
    Boomer Esaison
    Testeverde
    Pennington
    Ken O'Brian
    Ray Lucas

I don't think you understand or it has yet to sink in. We don't want to see Mark Sanchez play QB for the NY Jets ever again. There is no upside no matter how many weapons you surround him with. He's lost his confidence, and in NY you cannot recover from that. Even if we win next Sunday the moment Sanchez takes the field against San Diego he will get booed. For the first time in his life he has failed and he isn't taking it well no matter what he says. Then to make matters worse Rex is treating him like a little girl. Both of these clowns need to go and Tanny too. Might as well get on with the rebuild ASAP, otherwise next year will be a lost season with Rex and Sanchez running this team.

I understand he is playing next week. And likely against San Diego. And unless the owner surprises and gets rid of Tanny and Ryan, there is a good chance Sanchez will be in the mix next year too. So I hope you are wrong about that NY recovery thing.

I honestly feel like more blame should be shifted to Rex and Tanny now. What reason does this kid have to try and get much better under this regime? He played terribly last week, got benched for a half, and saw his replacement manage the game accordingly and get a win. What was the lasting effect? He starts the next week and his replacement isn't even active. Where is his consequences and motivation to not fuck up?

I am borderline disturbed by how some people here and around the jets fan base view sanchez. The guy can do no right.

I'm not from the Jets' fan base, I just prefer watching teams be comptetive with their QB play, and right now the Jets don't meet that criteria.

    Sanchez does nothing well?

    Really?

It's ridiculous. There are some things he does really well.

    1. He is exceptional at throwing picks/fumbling at the most critical point of the game. (Doesn't mean he doesn't picks in otherwise normal times - just his propensity to throw the picks or fumble increase exponentially when he is near either side of the end zone.)

    2. Ass fumble - this is the play of the ages.

His comedic value is unparalleled in the NFL. Just what the hell are you guys talking about?

And in my opinion I think they would be competitive if they would address major holes that surround sanchez. Poise doesn't just disappear. This guy stared down the barrel of the gun during the playoffs. Sure his defense and run game helped. But clutch throws to braylon and santonio with games on the line show that he is purely capable of being a big time player

I disagree that poise can't just disappear. I think it can, hence why I do think he has lost it. But thats an argument that'll keep going around and around and around, so we can agree to disagree. I have no real dog in the fight, other than thinking my NFL experience was much more fun when the Jets were the brash counterpart to the calm, robotic Pats. It made it more interesting, and as long as they continue to suffer (and Sanchez is a big part of that) my experience just isn't as fun.

You know it's possible that you're right and that Sanchez could recover the respect of the NY media, the undivided clubhouse of the NY Jets and his opponents. On the other hand the NY media could still treat him like a story waiting to happen, his teammates could still take anonymous shots in the press at him when they weren't happy with how much they were getting the ball and his opponents could still blitz the shit out of him on the general premise that when you put Mark Sanchez under pressure good things happen for you.

Do you really want to rebuild the offense around him and then go into Pittsburgh or Baltimore in the playoffs and put all of the above to the test?

I sure as hell don't. And I have nothing against Mark Sanchez at all except that I believe that he has failed as the Jet's QB.
