Sanchez deserves a lot of the blame now. His play has dropped but a lot of fans act like any QB (alex smith included) could walk in and be lighting it up with this team. There are lots of mistakes that Sanchez does not control but the lion's share of credit and blame always falls on the QB
and I agree with you. But the SOJF's really start to bug me after a while. Sanchez throws a ball wayward it is his fault. But when McElroy over threw hill last week everyone in the stands around me was like 'Hill adjust to the ball!!'
My son had a wrestling tournament today, so we missed the game until we were in the car on the way home. When there was <2 min in the game around 3:50 PM and the Jets were leading, he said, "boy, this game was sure fast." I told him, "that must be because they didn't let Sanchez throw more than 20 times." When we got home I checked the stats and, sure enough, that was the case. You can't win consistently by playing football around incompetent QBing, but it works sometimes.
I think to characterize Sanchez' play in 2010 as "great" is something of an overstatement bordering on wild hyperbole, unless you consider the 36th highest QB rating in the NFL for 2010 "great." I don't. http://wagesofwins.com/2011/01/11/final-quarterback-rankings-for-2010-and-some-football-thoughts/
Bingo. Most of these Sanchez haters are barely 21 yrs old and have NO clue what being a jets fan is like. Sanchez is the second most successful QB in the HISTORY OF THIS FRANCHISE after Namath. So yeah he's not playing at the level we expect, but he gave me the best 2 year run of my life, He's proven he can win in the post season, so I'm sticking by him, hoping he can play at that level once again
Everyone is tired of Sanchez and just want to pile on. It makes sense since he has been frustrating to watch, but it isn't accurate. It's funny people want to say that when we can't run the ball it's Sanchez's fault for not opening up the run game. But when we run well, it's hiding Sanchez's bad game. Well what opened the run game if Sanchez was holding it back? Or people like to say that Sanchez always had incredible catches bailing it out, failing to remember the drops. Then when you watch other games, QBs are getting as many if not more "incredible" catches to keep drives alive that we don't. It's sad, when watching highlights, I think Keller is only the skill player on offense that could start on 1/2 the teams in the league. Kerley would be a #3 on most teams and same with Hill. Gates and Gilyard wouldn't be playing as much. Schillens would be a #4. Reuland and Cumberland wouldn't see time as a starter, neither would Sanchez, Greene, or Powell. Our strength of the offense is the O line but they have been just as inconsistent as our offensive skill players According to everyone, we already did it 6 times season and found way to lose a game where he played competent in NE.
 the o-line and the backs won that game. guys like Fitzpatrick in buffalo and Stafford in Detroit routinely make that throw. he cost us with the fumble and the defense bailed us out with only giving up 3 pts. after watching san diego march into and beat the steelers, there is no way they will beat them or buffalo with suckchise at qb.
Im 22 years old and have had season tix since I was 5 with my old man and my brother. And I am constantly saying this. My whole life I had ONE YEAR with Vinny in 1998. 2009 and 2010 were the best years for me as a Jet fan. I am not about to give up on OUR QB. Sure he's playing terrible and scared. But once again..look whos around him. SIGN BRAYLON...and if he can't get a little chemistry with him...THAN I will start being more harsh on him. Until them....i love the guy
amen! I spent three days going to training camp, and over 3 weeks I saw no progress on offense. the preseason games confirmed that. the only td scored all summer was by McElroy ( talk about a preview of things to come). I did miss them practicing the buttfumble, though......
No. I'm saying that unless the Jets are in a position to grab an elite QB they should stick with Sanchez. As horrible as that seems now. He has shown he can perform well enough in the playoffs and if he can clear his head he can have value. Just not now. This is the situation Tannenbaum put the team in by throwing money at Sanchez last year. If there was a viable way to get a possible franchise QB for next year and dump Mark, fine. But I dont see how that happens with this years draft class and FA market. Rebuild the WR core, get more speed in the backfield, minimize the need for the QB to be the playmaker. Draft a QB in round 3-4 this year and let him learn the system.
please abstain from polluting the discussion with facts. he did have another great week of practice........:rofl2:
And if Steven Hill makes that catch in the first Pats game, the Jets are 7-6 and much more legitimate. And there would be a much better case made that Sanchez can be effective as a game manager. But agreed he is sucking of late, big time.
The problem is that Sanchez is not the same cocky and fearless player he was during his first two seasons. He lost his confidence last season and has yet to regain it. I don't think he will ever get it back playing here. It's time to move on. I do agree with taking a QB in the middle rounds to see if we can get lucky, however, I'm going with McElroy next season. At least he's confident and can hold down the fort until we hopefully draft an elite QB.
Problem is, Sanchez has had receivers running wide open all season and he hasn't been hitting them. I can counter that Wilcots screen shot with the one of the goal line INT against Seattle, where Hill and Kerley were both wide open.
