I never said it was Keller and not the D's, I said the D's played a role but it was more gteting his receivers back healthy. Right now you and I could be starting on D against them and would shut down that offense. I don't think it's a D issue as Miami was torn apart on D the last 2 weeks and Sea wasn't playing great the last few weeks.
Woody can't just replace Sanchez. He basically has to rebuild his front office. He has to hire a new VP of Football Operations, GM, and Head Coach. It's time to rebuild from the ground up. Rebuild now while the Patriots are showing the cracks of wear and time. In one or two seasons, the Jets can be headed up while the Pats are slipping down.
You said it was more Keller than the Ds and I said it was more the Ds. I quoted you and you are still deflecting. I can show the stats if you want or do you have an argument already lined up no matter what?
I do think we can win with Sanchez if we take the 49ers approach. Put it like this, when you have an average at best QB you don't have to break the bank like you do when you have an elite QB. That money can go to more better deserving players. This team on both sides of the ball has some talent. Offense Mangold Brick Holmes Keller Kerley Defense Revis Harris Cro Landry Wilkerson Coples The front office (Woody) just needs to decide that if they are serious about competing then they will have to spend money. Steven Jackson and Dwayne Bowe would instantly make our offense better. So instead of Sanchez throwing to the likes of Schillens and Gates and Jason Hill. He'll have a healthy Holmes, Keller, Kerley and Bowe with S. Hill as a 4th reciever. Then he would have Jackson, Greene and Powell, McKnight as runningbacks. add some o line depth through the draft and some passrushers through the draft and this is intantly a much improved team. Bottomline is that Sanchez can only be effective if he has players that can make him look good.
Sanchez is turning into a coach killer, first Shotty ,Sparano will be gone after this season and Rex's future could be decided by his loyalty to Sanchez. Sanchez the coach killer. And by the way if Plaxico was still a Jet we would be a better team in the Redzone where Dickhead threw 4 INT's this year, we were number 1 in the redzone last year
How am I deflecting? Our O stinks right now, we scored 9 pts against Miami w/ 6 in garbage time. The last 2 weeks Miami has allowed 53 pts and opposing QBashave thrown 4 TDs w/ 0 INTs. Sea's last 2 games before us they allowed 58 pts. It's more about how the Jets O is playing than the D's. when Dustin came back the O was playing much better but now they aren't and Dustin was a big reason why the O stunk yeterday, His false start penalty and drop completely changed the game yesterday.
Again, we are talking about Sanchez' completion % which you said was poor more due to not having Keller than it was due to the defenses completion % allowed. Team rank in completion % allowed is in parentheses Games w/ Keller: Buffalo(14th)-70.4% Indy(18th)-61.1% NE(26th)-68.3% MIA(4th)-51.9% Seattle(7th)-40.9% Games w/out Keller: Pitt(3rd)-37% MIA(4th)46.7% SF(10th)-44.8% Houston(1st)-45.2% Wow. It is amazing. Even with Keller against teams that are ranked well with respect to completion % his completion % is not good. Occam's razor prevails yet again despite your attempt to bail Sanchez out.
Bottom line Sanchez isn't heading in the right direction, We fired Shotty but it was Sanchez the whole time
who cares about comp %? it's about scoring points. w/ Keller starting: 95-162, 1083 yds, 7 TDs, 4 INTs, 83 rating, led O to 21 PPG w/o Keller starting: 58-132, 777 yds, 3 TDs, 5 INTs, 55 rating, led O to 8 PPG
On SNY yesterday one of the Guys said it is time for Rex to distance himself from Sanchez if he wants to keep his job. Sad but true. The thing that bothers me is Rex will get fired for Sanchez and go someplace else and win the big one.
I would bet literally any amount of money that Sanchez never wins a Super Bowl. He might never win another playoff game.
I don't even know what the problem is with this team anymore, But i really wish people would stop using Sanchez' completion percentage as the biggest problem. Tebow gets called for 4 WR swing passes in a row yesterday. I haven't seen Sanchez throw one all year. Where are the "easy" completions to get our QB in rythm. I'll tell you where, They're on the sideline, or lined up at WR while timmy comes in and blows a few downs. We give Tebow the easy short throws, and the short runs, then expect Mark to be able to come in and complete 3rd and 10s 3rd and 12s, 3rd and 8s. No QB is going to succeed in these situations, and every QB put into this cluster f*** is going to have a lowered completion percentage. Yesterdays game was as painful to watch as I can remember.
I think this is what we are going to see now. Rex should distance himself to save his job. I still think Rex is a good coach.....although the whole Sparano thing has me scratching my head in retrospect. Sanchez has now pretty much proven that his first 2 years were his best and that he will never eclipse those in accomplishment. I've given Sanchez the benefit of the doubt as much as i can as a fan, but's it's evident this guy is in an irreversible regression. I fully realize his weapons are diminished and that would hamper him, but his constant mistakes, poor decision making, poor throws are the norm, not an abberration. Time to see what McElroy can do (forget the whole Tebow circus, nice job there Woody) (by the way, special teams sucks, think Westhoff has checked out a little early?)
I can't really defend Sanchez anymore, but Tebow sure isn't helping him. If Sparano simply called a run to Greene instead of getting fancy on that 3rd and goal from within the 1, that pick would have never happened and we probably get a touchdown and at the very least a FG.
I wouldn't be surprised if Rex never gets another HC gig. He'll be able to name his landing spot as a DC though.
