Those stats would be beyond anyone's expectations. 25 TD is very fair, but when it's all said and done, I'd guess his INT would be somewhere around 10-15. However, based on what we've seen the past 2 games, If Sanchez keeps this up, we may even see 30 TD, but he'll come crashing down again for a little while. One step back, two steps forward.
There was one play last night where he dropped back to pass, almost went to his first read in the middle of the field and then saw that there was double coverage. He stopped right before throwing, held onto the ball and threw an incompletion to another WR to the right. Last year, that would have been an INT. I'm sure it will be one again at some point this year too, but its great to see him avoid some of the mistakes. That's as important as the TDs.
I know what play you are talking about. He looked up the middle of the field and saw Keller, who at a glance looked to be open, but you could see the two players in the secondary ready to pounce the route, so he tried to dump it off to LT and underthrew it a bit.
As long as he keeps his confidence in himself at a high level, he'll be fine ... eventually the guy is gonna have a bad game, it just comes down to his body language and attitude on the field, that's what I'm waiting to see, because that's a big key in his development
I don't even feel like talking shit to all my friends who were telling me Sanchez was a bust going into this game. Next time they try to give me reasons the Jets won't win a game I get to laugh at them as I negate all their arguments with "yeah but we have Sanchez".
My confidence in Sanchez is growing. It's nice to have a Qb who can get the ball down the field and who plays with confidence.
interesting little fact so far, it's early..but i love saying this for the moment lol Sanchez has more TD's than matt schaub, eli manning, matt ryan, carson palmer, donovan Mcnabb, tony romo, brett favre and joe flacco to name a few. possibly cutler and rodgers but that's dependent on the outcome of the game and he has less picks than phillip rivers, drew brees, tom brady and everyone not named michael vick or peyton manning. The only 3 starting QB's with no picks so far...and vick has only played 2 and a half games
He's actually mine also in BOTH my leagues this week. and he won me both games, literally. i was able to pick him up off waivers last week bc people dropped him after the first game lol. i also got keller in one of my leagues...trying to trade for him in another. keller's gonna have a huge year, and the guy who has him is a dolphins fan so i'm thinking he doesn't really know his full value yet. my other QB was flacco, in both leagues too. it's weird, i don't think i've ever had the ELITE fantasy QB's in the 5 or so years i've been doing fantasy football. Except that one year romo had a crazy year, his first full season as a starter. got him late rounds. but never have had brady, brees, rivers, schaub last year, manning, etc. had mcnabb last year i think but he was hurt. i always go RB heavy and then make sure to grab an elite WR or two. you can always find a serviceable QB in the later rounds or through waiver wire. i won the league one year with Jake Delhomme as my starting QB for most of the year.
To be fair, one could say Sanchez only has played 2 games this season... I'm not sure if standing in the middle of the field for a few minutes against Baltimore should count as a "played game"... but then again, that boosts his TD stats even more
That's what I'm looking for. A 2:1 ratio and a comp % near 60. Those should be his numbers this year. He has the ability.
2-1 is alot harder then people think though The other NY QB didn't reach a 2-1 ration until his 5th year in the NFL (21TDs 1INT) and only did it once out of 6 years and doesn't look like he'll be able to this year eaither
It can be accomplished, it all depends on how BS uses him, he seems to flourish in the 3 receiver set, I have not seen too many empty backfield formations or a lot of audibles taking place in the past 2 games and I feel it allows him to relax and make his reads. Simple but efficient, this is what I have wanted to see from BS all along.
Outside of the Ravens game you really have to go back to what week 14 against Atlanta of last year when he played a bad game. He was fantastic in both Colts and Bengals games and he was very good against the Chargers. 3 TDs and 0 picks the last two weeks show the kid has tremendous ability and it looks like it is starting to come together.
