to be honest, it actually would be hard to be worse than Shotty.

I'm not saying Callahan is the answer, or anybody on our current offensive staff for that matter. Unless it's on an interim basis till the end of the season (if the decision is made to can Schotty sooner rather than later).

But a change certainly has to be made....preferably in the offseason. They need to bring someone in that can tailor the offense to the skillset of our QB.

Add in that Callahan is responsible for the worst performing unit on the team, had talked up Hunter as Woody's replcement, and shares a collective responsiblity for the woeful offensive performance.

There's no reason to make him the OC.

This is an utterly ridiculous comment and it actually infuriates me. Does anyone honestly think Hackett could do a better job here? That's just a recent example from our own team.

The fact that it's repeated ad naseum disgusts me with this fanbase. At worst we've been an average offense under Schottenheimer. With a supposedly elite defense that should be more than enough to win.

The problem is, we have a turnover king behind center.

it is entirely possible that Sanchez is also the problem, but the fact is Schotty has coached 4 QB's here (Pennington, Favre, Clemmens and Sanchez) and our offense, nevertheless the passing game, has been mediocre no matter who is under center, so clearly he is part of the problem. to admit the offense is merely average under him and then claim it isn't his fault is the type of ridiculousness that should infuriate you.

So Callahan is no good because the journey QB who if not for the numbers and wins he put up under his offense would have been an afterthought in NFL history said some crap about him. Didn't Senile Al Davis shitcan Gruden?

My thing is we have had every type of QB here and the offense looks the same. We have had Pennington who is accurate and has absolutely no arm. We have had Favre who had an abope average arm (at least before the injury) and we now have Sanchez who is probably right in the middle of the two with arm strength but is extremely mor mobile than the other 2. Can anyone say they have seen large differences in the way this offense is run? Look at the Eagles. Totally different offense with McNabb/Kolb/Vick. Patriots ran a different offense with Cassel. The Jets offense hasnt changes in years. That is very frustrating and show that Shotty is the offensive Mangini. Run's his style regardless of who he has.

The offense was much better with Favre than anybody else and that's because the tail was wagging the dog for most of his time on the Jets.

What is amazing is Pennington had his career high in INTs (16) under Shotty, and Farve had a horrible year (22 ints). Pennington left and went to the playoffs and threw only 7 ints in that run. Farve was thought to be washed up, went to the vikings and threw 33 tds to only 7 ints in his first year there.

I found this interesting article which brings up the point that shotty's offense might make QB's turnover prone. I'm not sure that I buy that, but it is interesting.

biggest issue is the jets refuse to use the middle of the field -- everything is outside the numbers, their screens aren't short quick bubble screens they are 1 on 1 throws outside the numbers, most pass plays are outs. Teams can bring a deep safety up because they aren't needed in pass coverage.

last two games carbon copies - dink, dunk, dink, dunk

The point is Rex Ryan would make a change to make a change and Callahan does have experience as an offensive coordinator. It's not anything more than that. We all know Callahan has sucked at his job this year too.

Rex made the running game a priority and they became a top 5 rushing attack.

The QBs, never above fucking 16th.

    Bye Bob Sutton.

Its a bit hard for him to do his job when hes missing an irreplaceable piece in the very center of his line, don't ya think?

Sanchez is absolutely correct. Schotty puts his QB and offense in bad situations. His play calling is terrible. I have wanted him out for some time now and am still all for him being fired. Who knows, a sudden change may bring us some short term fortune. Maybe our players will fight harder for a different OC. All I know is if this current system is not working, then its time to move on and give someone else a chance.

Well, if they just want to make a change, I could probably take a leave from work for three months or so. I'd still want the right to come back here, though, you know, just in case it didn't work out.

Seriously, why do you think they have NOT given the job to Callahan? And are you familiar with Callahan's history?
