Most patients with SLAP tears will respond to conservative (meaning non-surgical) treatments. Any patient with a SLAP tear will be advised to rest after the injury to allow the injured tissue to cool down. A period of rest will allow inflammation to subside and may help to alleviate symptoms.

On a similar note, I heard Cromartie has torn his share of labias.

    I know what you mean.

I'd rather treat myself on my workbench than see a doctor.

I hope the doctors are checking out this board, though. There's a lot of talent here. We can be a lot of help.

What about any gynecologists to diagnose Henne's forehead?

Don't get me wrong... it's OBVIOUS that a doctor with shoulder specialization is the best way to go (duh).

What I'm saying is it's not like it's never happened that players chose to play in risky situations for their health and things actually went wrong.
Right now Sanchez has a small cartilage tear which probably is no big deal... but he has more chances of getting hurt again because his shoulder already isn't 100%. Look at Stafford!

Will it be something that de-rails his career? Of course not. But he is the future of this franchise and we have to be very careful with him imo.

PS and again, Cartilage never ever EVER heals itslef. It's like with a broken ligament, you can re-attach it surgically, but it will never re-attach on it's own... unlike muscles or bones. An you only have a certain amount of cartilage... after that adios amigos... so I'm pissed he's starting to have cartilage problems at 24.

I had an inflammation of my shoulder cartilage a couple of years ago and it was quite painful. Moving my shoulder felt like someone had poured sand between meshing gears and it was difficult to find chest and triceps exercises that didn't make the injury worse. I'm sure that just an inflammation of the cartilage won't stop anyone determinded to fight it through - the worst case scenario would be a painkiller injection - but a tear makes me worried.

    Exactly, that's why I'm worried.

And I remember the orthopedist I saw about it was relieved that it wasn't a tear.

I know what you're saying. I've just been kidding around.

Injuries are part of the game. Sometimes you gotta play anyway. That's up to the people who are paid to make these decisions to decide.

Hopefully, this thing isn't serious enough to keep him out. This is the home stretch of the season, and losing him right now would be . . .

. . . well, I don't even want to think about the alternative.

    Let's hope for the best.

In the midst of you running around with your hair on fire, you do realize even though Sanchez and Stafford's injury are technically shoulder injuries, you are comparing a splinter to a bullet wound.

A minor cartilage tear is not even remotely similar to a shoulder separation. Seriously they are not even close. Please put your head under water, put out the fire and read a little......... google is your friend.

    Haha don't worry puck...

I just made that comparison to say that when a shoulder (or any part of the body really) isn't 100% it's easier to get it hurt again... especially when you use it again and again (like a throwing shoulder for a QB or a right hand for you).

I'm already losing enough hair... no way I'll set them on fire! But I'll go to sleep since it's 2 AM....

BTW I'm very offended by one of your posts... I'm neither Jew or asian... and I still could understand almost everything in that medical post!

Don't worry, if we didn't (or don't? english dilemma) kid around on TGG we'd prob shoot one another ;)

    Totally agree on your post.

I don't think the bolded part is correct. As I understand it, most cartilage damage will heal albeit slowly. Especially in a healthy, highly trained athlete.

If there is separation of the tissue you would have to surgically close the tear, but healing will eventually happen.

Idk I just copy and pasted it from whoever went through the trouble to post like 3 articles about different cartilage tears.

I am out of this convo. The Jets don't seem nearly as concerned as this board is so I will go with their attitude since they actually have an idea of what is going on.

Sounds like Sanchez should sit it out and Brunell should probably start against the Bills. Hopefully Brunell is ready to go.
