I don't think you understood what he was saying. He was saying your setting a record for posting so quickly here right after the game.
I didn't say Sanchez had a flawless day. Citing imperfect throws in this game to castigate and impugn him isn't going to work. Not in this thread. And saying he had a "terrible day" is, well, just plain silly. The reason it's not going to work is that you're missing the point. "Sanchez Has Arrived" because this game was pivitol for him. He found a way to shake a lot of his rookie irregularities and win the game. He settled down earlier than he had in other key matchups and overcame. This game was the biggest game of his career, bar none... bigger even than last year's playoffs, like it or not. It was his biggest game so far because it WAS the Patriots in the playoffs and it WAS coming off of the recent 45-3 drubbing in their house and everyone WAS saying the Jets didn't have a chance, etc.. Good, emerging QBs need one pivitol game in their career as a confidence booster, and this game was his. The team carried him at times, of course... especially the DEF. But that happens with all teams and the greatest of QBs. Look at Peyton Manning or even Brady... great QBs both, but worthless if their team isn't pulling the load at times. I am talking about what this game did for Sanchez. This game is a turning point for him, mark my words. Tremendous confidence booster. He'll look back on this game at times in the future and gain strength from it. And he'll build on what he took away from this game in future matchups, even if the team, as you say, doesn't "carry him" quite as much. This is only the beginning, like it or not.
Well, considering we play them next... hmy: I believe he had a nice little thread going congratulating us somewhere.
He is just a baller. When it comes down to the nitty-gritty he just raises his level of play. And I'm looking forward to watching him next week.
I agree I think it's finally starting to come together for him. The passes he was inaccurate on yesterday where great reads. I don't think statistics do Sanchez justice at all. When it matters he comes through almost every time. If we are down by a touchdown with less than a minute there is no one more dependable than Sanchez imo.
Sanchez started off pretty awful, just like the Indy game last week. However, he played lights out after the first quarter. Anyone have his stats broken down by quarters? I bet it was similar to last week where he was 9 for 11 in the 2nd half.
Sanchez stats by quarter: 1st Quarter 3/5 17 yards 2nd Quarter 7/11 84 yards 2TD 3rd Quarter 3/6 21 yards 4th Quarter 3/3 72yards TD
What I like about what yesterday's game did for Sanchez is just that. He was unsteady as hell in the Colts game for almost the entire 1st half. Couldn't get his confidence up. Yesterday, a much bigger game, he settled down somewhere in the mid-1st quarter... a huge difference. The three passes that stand out at the beginning of the game were the two uncatchable overthrows and the one to Keller that looked like a 3rd slightly overthrown ball but a catchable one nonetheless. The blown FG was a huge deflator, but he answered that by coming back and driving for the first 7 points to make it 7-3. We never looked back after that and never lost the lead. This game was huge for his self confidence.
The reads were good, he was just unsettled. It took about 3 bad throws to get the jitters out of his system. And his game management was awesome. Sanchez hasn't been getting enough credit for playing at the level he's been playing at for only two years in the league. I think now, he'll finally start getting the credit he deserves fo rbeing where he is at this point in his career.
He's still got a long ways to go, to see him in the ways I would like to see him, but the man is a straight baller when it counts the most, unlike Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco
Let's put it another way: Can anyone name ONE quarterback who, in his first two seasons, looks as promising as this one does and who has won the number of road playoff wins this one has? And against a division rival with as much "dynasty" as the Patriots? I finally feel real good about this kid. We're going places with him, and it's been a very long time since I could honestly say that.
I like both QB's but Flacco looked SCARED in the 3rd Quarter -- did he even change his demeanor for 30 minutes (he looked like the proverbial deer in the headlights) -- and Ryan ? Mike Lupica's boy ? That was backup QB-like throwing the pick at the end of the 1st half.
