When you're man crush Kellen Clemens loses the starting job to a rookie, I'm gonna be sure and laugh my ass off at you, loser! Ha ha
I've read every piece of Jets news I could possibly get my hands on during the off season. If Clemens had done what you're lying about "many times", I'm 100% sure that I would have read it. Stop lying. I'm actually rooting for Sanchez to win at this point. It's funny that you've been running your mouth talking shit about the guy but when you get called out on it all you can do is throw out weak insults. Seems like the behavior of someone who's been talking out there ass to me.
When you break apart the contraction, I'm not sure Willie's the one with the poor English skills. BTW, what are you going to be sure of? You said you are both going to be sure and laugh your ass off.
I wouldn't have expected him to say he wasn't the #1 QB. he's been number 2 for years and this would have appeared to be his shot to anyone, really. That being said, I, the same as you, have never seen one article with him referring to himself as anything out of place. If he did refer to himself as #1 I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Was he supposed to just jump aside and say, "yeah i know I was #2 but we have Ratty here and I think he's going to take my job" Also, wtf is Ratty? Gimme a break with the Ratliff shit already. Wasn't he an undrafted FA that somehow ended up as #4 or something? The love for this guy is beyond me.
The original argument is still the same. Clemens is a career backup because of how long he has been on the Jets bench. It has nothing to do with any other QB at all. You chose to drag others into it. I will add to the argument by saying he will not win the starting job this year either and he will be let go when the year is over. He may or may not latch on to another team as a backup next year. Is that being clear enough? I will agree that I should have probably added that HE is a career backup because of how long HE has sat on the Jets bench.
I don't "love" him. I just hate it when people seem to hate Jets players so much, especially when they make shit up for the sake of hating.
There's no way that one series can determine if Sanchez will be a good QB but what did stand out to me was his poise and footwork. He gets back into his drop FAST! Quick feet and his release seemed nice and compact. No wasted motions and he was very decisive. That's all I want to see right now is that he has the tools to make it happen. He will make his fair share of rookie mistakes and we as fans need to be realistic and not make him out to be Jesus already.
I was talking about the love for Ratliff. That's pretty much who RWBG is defending. The guy had a few nice moments in PS last year...other than that most of the stuff I've heard about him wasn't positive. I'm unsure of the actual quote but shit along the lines of "learning disability" haha
I chose to drag others into it because you made a blanket statement as though it were true for all QBs who sat on the bench. It's far from that. Clemens is likely a career backup because of his own deficiencies. You're right, if the guy has confidence issues mentally, they've certainly been exacerbated by the situations he's been in during his 3+ seasons. At this point, if his confidence is shot because of that treatment, he's not going to develop into a starter for anybody. I'd also tend to agree that he signs somewhere else after this season...unless next year is uncapped. If we determine him to be a capable backup, we'll use his RFA status and give him a tender to ensure that we get a return. Even the highest tender isn't completely out of line for a good backup. Once the decision is solely in his hands, though, I'd say he leaves of his own volition due to the way he's been kicked around here, deservedly or not.
Did any of them actually win the job after sitting that long or were they just put in because there was nobody else? I know Schaub was traded and would have never started over Vick anyway. Rodgers had to wait for Favre to retire. Not sure how Delhomme got the job. Did he follow Collins?
“It’s my full expectation to be under center on opening day.” Kellen Clemens, April 9, 2009, NewYorkJets.com, 'Clemens confident he will be starter'
Delhomme spent 6 seasons on the PS and bench in New Orleans, signed with the Panthers in 2003, and became the starter when Peete was garbage. Garrard won the job over Leftwich in Jacksonville as well. They opted not to keep Leftwich as a backup afterward.
So, I'm still confused as to what the problem with that is? What was he supposed to say? Any competitor is going to say that. You can't say the guy has no fire and presence and then turn around and criticize him for having confidence in himself. I think you're making way too much out of that statement, but hey, to each their own.
Garrard is actually probably the closest comparison. He was drafted BEFORE Leftwich, and never showed enough to win the job until after Leftwich was brought in. Eventually, he was determined to be the better fit for the team.
Yeah, other than hoping things play out in a way that the Jets can get something for Clemens in a trade next off season, I just want the better player to start. But the hating on Clemens thing is just plain bizarre.
I remember that quote. I didn't think it qualified. He didn't proclaim himself the starter; he said he expected to be on opening day. I expect to make it through the day without getting hit by a car. That doesn't mean I'm proclaiming it beyond a shadow of a doubt.
