There were 2 or 3 times when Sanchez missed open receivers. For example on the last series, he overthrew Cotchery who was open near the sideline. But most of the night, the Viking D-Backs were crawling all over the receivers.
Braylon TD one week ago comes to mind. Which ones has he missed? One of his best assets last season was his deep ball accuracy. Sure he was off in the terrible conditions last night. I don't really remember it being an issue otherwise this season?
what does it matter the jets are 4-1 and however the next two games against DEN and GB might prove a little harder
You are right on with the observation, I think he puts too much air under the ball, it may be something that he needs to work on, or it just may be lack of arm strength.
one of them was in his hands, or chest and popped out. i just heard trent dilfer, and jericho cotchery say these pink breast cancer balls, or different than the regular nfl balls. they said the ball is harder to grip, and in the rain it's a totally different ball, and extremely slick.
One thing is for sure, Holmes showed his speed to get pass the secondary. Once they get the timing down better, expect good things.
his deep ball accuracy hasn't been very good but we know he's capable. he did it a couple times last year. the braylon vs colts and falcons off the top of my head.
I think the drops just messed up his rhythm.....alot of key drops on 3rd down that stalled drives.....some were a little high but very catchable. So I don't think we should be too hard on mark. If some of those balls are caught and some drives extended, who knows what would have happened and some of us would be singing a different tune.
The pass to Braylon in the Buffalo game where he did a double move is not the kind of deep ball I'm talking about here. That wasn't even that deep of a pass. I'm talking about when he has to really air it out. It hasn't been a HUGE issue I'm just saying it's his weakest point and I just wonder how much time they spend on it in practice. I couldn't be happier with how well he's played thus far so people need to get off me like I'm trying to rag on Sanchez.
I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't remember it being a problem other than last night. You didn't answer my question - do you have examples?
I'll have to rewatch the games tonight to give you exact examples other than the throws from last night. It hasn't been a problem per say because we've been winning and he hasn't thrown any picks. I just think if we're gonna go on a deep run he needs to improve in that aspect.
Yea Mark's deep ball to Keller to open up the fins game for TD was horrible as well. WHat a horrible pass that was. Come on, stop guys. Just stop. Go back and watch Mark's long ball against Indy where he hits Braylon for 80 yards. ENOUGH
That throw to Braylon against Indy is the kind of throw I'm talking about, not the one to Keller against Miami. They are not the same type of throw. But since no one can seem to grasp that I'm just going to stop talking about this subject.
People just don't remember or don't want to see certain things. Your initial post is dead on. The last 5 games he's missed a few long throws. People even forget he took a shot or two early against Baltimore. No one is saying he should hit every pass, or that we're upset by Mark's play or anything, we're just pointing out a part of his game that still needs work. No big deal to comment on an area that needs work. That's what Rex and Mark do in every post game press conference, no?
can we also throw out there then that his accuracy is terrible (#29th) and his yards per attempt are also terrible (#28th).
Yeah, there were about 7-8 drops. I remember a radio commentator mentioning 6 drops while it was the end of 3rd quarter (went out to get some food). I saw a Braylon drop just after the pass call seconds before the 2 min warning. That pass was catchable, Braylon just misjudged it and came back couple extra steps when Sanchez was pressured heavily. The 2nd down pass near 2 min warning was also catchable. Sanchez has played decent. He has protected the ball very nicely. There have been a few int opportunities, but there are ALWAYS int opportunities against EVERY QB in the league in EVERY game.
The deep ball that you are talking about rarely hits a guy in perfect stride for a TD. Those ball's are usually jump balls into single coverage. He hit Holmes right in the chest with one last night.
