After seeing Matthews today I'm with you. Amaro or Ebron then a receiver may be best anyway.

One two of those names may sneak into the late first. I see Lee as behind Evans and Watkins, but in line with Benjamin who I see as a mid first round type of talent. The Difference between the two being Lee has a very high floor, but not the raw potential a guy with Kelvin's size and Speed has.

The Watkin's talk is just nonsense. Idzik isn't going to give up a 2nd and another pick to move up to draft Sammy.

The Jet's are in a position to get an excellent play maker at #18. Ebron, Amaro & Lee could all be available.

I prefer the 2 top TE's, because the depth at WR is unreal in Rd 2 & 3. The quality of TEs drops significantly after the Top 3 are gone.

That is an excellent point and may help shove a close battle towards TE.

Just not sure.Ideally, we get the needs covered in FA so that we can take the BOPA at 18...and I think thats Lee. He may of had limited production this year because of the injuries but he's healed (tremendous bowl performance) and a year ago he looked like a top 10, maybe 5 pick. His ceiling is really high and could be a steal at 18 if he were there...

You watch his performances last year, I reco the Stanford game, and its not just that he makes explosive plays, its that he was constantly involved in the offense (and that was playing across from another NFL calibre receiver in Woods) and he is crazy competitive playing like he gives a crap (for all the 'he plays like Santonio' comments, this is a big difference for me) blocks like a demon and plays bigger than his frame.

I kinda hope Benjamin flies up some boards so that a receiver needing team ahead of us grabs him instead of us and Lee or Amaro are there for us.

I posted this in the Mathews thread too, but it seemed appropriate to put here as well.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
While researching this year WR's, I came across two links with metric breakdowns on some of the top WR's coming out.

Since, I can't post links the website is: Second round stats .com.

They have data comparison metrics on: Sammy Watkins, Jordan Matthews, & Brandin Cooks, Mike Evans, Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, & Allen Robinson

Very interesting stuff. I like what the metrics tell me about Brandin Cooks.

The only way I'm giving up a kings ransom for Watkins is if we come away with jimmy graham in free agency. Which is probably not going to happen considering his value to the saints. If we get graham in free agency and Watkins in the draft our entire offense just changed.

  8. Yeah I agree w/ this.

To me, Lee is right behind Watson for WR's in this draft. He's smooth, agile, great hands, runs every single route & is electrifying after the catch. Frankly the only reasons I can find not to like him are he got banged up in an off year for his whole team & his name has been widely circulated throughout draft circles to scrutizine for 2 years now.

    He'd be a gift at #18

Rams could draft Watkins with the #2 pick. I know the offensive line is in shambles, but they could still grab a tackle with their 2nd 1st rounder.

Could you imagine Watkins and Tavon Austin on the same team?

I hope we can get Ebron or Amaro - then come up with Matthews or Allen Robinson in round 2 - Seems like it maybe a pipe-dream ...

    ^ This.
Restocking the roster (esp. the offense) is about numbers. Draft pick-wise the Jets own 'numbers' and WR-wise the draft has numbers.

TE-wise not as many (4?) so grab Ebron and then go for the "post-Watkins/Evans" WRs who should still be available in the 2nd round such as Allen, Robinson, Landry, Beckham etc. (doubt Matthews is still there for the Jets in the 2nd)....and so on in the 3rd. No trade ups, please.

I dont think his hands are that great tbh...

I feel like a lot of ppl on this board overrate Lee mostly because he's the biggest name aside from Watkins.

I feel like he's transitioned from overrated to underrated.

Don't ever draft a TE in the 1st round. Ever. It's a stupid move.

Gronkowski was a 2nd rounder and Jimmy Graham was taken with the last (non-compensatory) pick of the 3rd round. You can find guys with upside later if you do your homework.

Among the TEs who are "just a guy" teams reached have for in the 1st:

    Jermaine Gresham
    Brandon Pettigrew
    Eifert
    Johnny Mitchell (Jets)
    Kyle Brady (Jets)
    Anthony Becht (Jets)

Jets 1st order of business after bringing Marty Morninhweg back should be to fire Terry Bradway and replace him with somebody competent.

The Stephen Hill over Alshon Jeffery decision is downright embarrrassing. With Bradway as lead scout or whatever his title is, Tannenbum not only swung and missed, but traded up to do so.

Just like when Bradway traded up to take bust Dewayne Robertson.

Eifert is a first year player, and not to mention, split reps with Gresham. Btw, I would draft Gresham in the 1st round. He's a good TE.

I would easily draft Ebron or Amaro in the 1st round.

Gronk was a 1st round talent, but slid because of injuries (which are still taking affect today). His talent level was and still is worthy of a 1st round pick. Vernon Davis has been the only constant in the 49ers passing game since the day he was drafted. He was certainly worth his draft position. There is no way we ca judge Eifert yet...

Eric Ebron has a LOT of Vernon Davis to him, and Jace Amaro has a little Jimmy Graham to him. If they are BPA, why not take them? Especially considering there's not a whole lot after them of in FA, and the WR class is VERY deep.

I can look up the number of busts drafted in the 1st at WR, or any other position. It works both ways.

Also, Ebron and Amaro can act as WR's in any offense, just as they did in college.

  17. Vernon Davis
    Kellen Winslow Jr.
    Tony Gonzalez
    Heath Miller
    Greg Olsen
    Jeremy Shockey
    Marcedes Lewis
    Dallas Clark
    Keith Jackson

All first round picks. Try again

Idzik is going to fill the wholes in FA and hopefully go BPA in the first.

Every year I am wrong about our picks. I thought we would have gone star loutolelli last year instead of Richardson. I thought we would go with Ingram and we went with Coples... I thought we should look for Maclin at 18 and we traded up for Sanchez... no matter what I find the draft impossible to predict including our pick...

For all we know we could go OLB in the first... I guess that's why its exciting.

It would be awesome for us to finally go WR in the first!

Thanks for posting the link so I could see Sammy in that game. I'm sick that I didn't watch that game. I ALWAYS watch Clemson bowl games, but this year there were several players that I wanted to watch in the Mizzou Bowl Game that was on at the same time, so I watched it rather than the Clemson game. I missed the replay on ESPN as well, so thanks again.

How I wish he could become a Jet.
