I'm glad no one here is a GM. The Jets can't afford trading up in the first round right now. We aren't "fine" at our depth; we need every single one of our draft picks this year if we want to be perennial contenders. I think Watkins has the potential to be a truly elite player in the NFL, but the chance that he isn't what he seems outweighs what we would give up to get him (as a top 10 pick). Trading up almost never ends up helping a team in the long run unless they get what turns out to be a franchise Qb. I really, really like Watkins but we shouldn't trade up to get him.
Yeah there is no arguing that. Just saying there is no chance at Watkins now. Really no chance at Evans either.
I really don't think Hill is as far off a people think. Hopefully he gets his knee right. Year #3 is when WRs typically pick the game up a bit so let's see where he's at come this TC. I'm still hoping he can be a big part of this offense next season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
this team needs a game breaking receiver in the worst way tho man.. a maclin, nicks, david nelson, or prob any free agent we can get is going to be like that,, if they they thnk watkins can be that guy, with all the picks we have i think they might have to pull the trigger
I'm not denying what the guy can do on the field. I'm just saying that he could potentially slip. I doubt it but you never know.
They showed a stat before that featured the leaders in YAC, and Watkins tops the list. He's followed by Allen Robinson and Jordan Matthews, who I believe one if not both will be Jets next year.
I remember around this time last year Bjoern Werner, Jarvis jones, and damontre Moore were considered near-locks for top 10, maybe even top 5 picks. By the draft we could have literally drafted all three of them while staying put. I highly doubt Watkins is gonna fall down to 18, but it isn't unthinkable for him to drop to maybe 10. Then it might be worth trading up. As I'm writing this he just pulled down a long TD in double coverage...
dude.. watching this game is getting me on the hype train big timeā¦ i was all in on mike evans 3 hours ago..
Having a player like Sammy Watkins on this team would be huge. I would be all for trading up to get this beast, as long as the price isn't too ridiculous.
I agree on Watkins watching the orange bowl now he is an absolute beast. He would really help our anemic offense. Too bad we don't pick until 18 no way this guy lasts that long. Him, Kerley, and Hill (if he can develop) we'd have something.
Damn I'm getting depressed because I'm so hyped for this kid but the better he does the less likely we'll get him...
A talent like this comes around once every 10+ years... You do whatever it takes to get him it's simple as that.
I believe Bryant will be available even later (4th, 5th, 6th?). Lack of production and off the field issues.
