So let me ask you Guru, would you have traded down to get Leinart or would you just have taken him at 4?
We went to the AFC finals with a legitmate SB team with Kyle Brady at TE blocking and our line went to crap when we let our RT and Becht walk without an offer.
would you say that Big Ben was a playmaker for the super bowl champs????.... you may, it would be your opinion. I would disagree. We are re-building a team at the moment. We could likely get a playmaker with any of our remaining picks. Your post would suggest that there were only 4 playmakers available in this draft and we didn't get them.
If they took the top rated player on their board how is that a mistake? They made their effort for Bush and the Saints didn't bite. They didn't think Leinart or Cutler were worthy of the #4 pick or more worthy then Brick so who's to say they are wrong. There were quite a few other people who seem to agree with them as Leinart didn't get picked until 10 and then Cutler at 11 There are many good QBs still out there that have plenty of upside and with both Chad and Ramsey the FO probably wasn't looking for someone to start right away and it would've been tough to pay Leinart that much to sit. Not saying I love Brick but saying it's a mistake is a stretch
Bad move? You are basing this on how many years of actual football experience and knowledge? While like Winston, I'm not in love with the pick, it baffles me how people can label this a "bad move" just because it wasn't the guy they wanted. The Jets were never as sold on Leinart as much as some fans were. We need to stop overreacting everytime the FO makes a move we don't like and realize that maybe they have quite a bit more football knowledge then we do. It is truly amazing seeing how fans overreact, can't get over things, and act as if they know more then those paid to work in football.
some people are definitely showing that their football knowledge is marginal, Leinart was not the answer for our team. Brick is by far a more valuable resource to this team than Leinart could have been. Apart from Bush (trade the farm not an option), Brick was the best player available and a definite need.. QB is not !!!!!!!
Which ever Mod Merged these threads should be questioned for changing the title to a "Crying" thread. A Mod is supposed to be nuetral when it comes to issues and changing the title to that is pretty unfair. EDIT: Just caught up. Din . I'm surprised @ u!!!! hmy:
Way to take things out of context!! Did you read what that post was in response too??? Of course you didn't....
Ok, I'm gonna attempt to give my opinion without seeming to disrespect any of the fellow posters. But i feel if you want to go kill yourselves, then go ahead. I just dont understand the thinking of some of the posters, with our 'VETERAN' OL last year we lost 2 qb's for all or most of the year, our future HOF RB could not find a hole and was ultimately injured and lost for the last 3 - 4 games of the season. Now some of you wanted to trade up for BUSH lets dissect that. 1. The Saints said they WERE NOT going to trade Bush and 2. if they had given in to a trade was it worth, the 4th pick in the 1st round, the 29th pick in the 1st round and the 35th pick in the 2nd, shades the Vikings with Herschel Walker and the Saints with Ricky Williams, we see how those worked out. Big D wound up winning a couple Super Bowls with all those picks and the Saints were a BUST and Ditka ultimately fired. You dont package picks for ONE player when you have too many holes to fill. We have ALOT of holes to fill on this team. So your gonna give up IMPORTANT picks for a RB who'll wind up broken up running behind an OL that could not block a H.S. Defense. Leinart: he is the left handed version of a QB we ALREADY have (Penny) and in the Meadowlands, why do we need ANOTHER noodle armed QB? Use common sense not your heart in thinking about the picks we've acquired no it's not sexy or pretty, but our O-Line is now solidified for the next 8+ years. Get a grip, come off the ledge, put the cyanide pill down and drop the gun, we would have picked up Bush, Leinart, Cutler et. al...and have gotten one of these kids hurt, the FA's we picked up like Teague, PLEASE, he's SERVICEABLE at best but not a GREAT OL. I think it's a SOLID draft so far. Just MY opinion, my 2 cents
