Did you watch the game last night? Not sure you did with that response. I would laugh too if I was you though. Much easier than crying.
What do you mean? Throwing a franchise record 31 TD's? Winning 10 games a year after the team was (4-12)? Now beating a Bills team that kept him out of the playoffs last year? No, I have not had enough. I want more FITZMAGIC.
Stop. You know exactly what I mean. There's at least 3 threads on it on your main board right now. You don't need to pretend he's something he's not.
Not a great comparison though. Rex completely ruining your team and turning your Top D into Swiss cheese. Fitz stabilizing the QB position which had been a mess for the Jets the last decade. Apples and oranges.
Well, let's face the facts. RF was known in Buffalo as a heart breaker. Flashes of brilliance on the way up food chain, and when the top was in sight, he'd spit the bit. In terms of individual games and full seasons. After last year's finale, they were drunk for three days in Buffalo crying "Ha! Ha! Ha! Same old Fitz!" You'd have thought they actually made the playoffs themselves, LOL! Anyway, the fact is today the Jets are a better team with him than without him, and they're a better team than the Bills. Period. And I'm fairly certain TB is a better HC than his predecessor. I mean, Rex will win some games because his guys like him and will play for him. But he's about as organized as a fire alarm at a chili cook-off.
The difference is simple. Fitz has made our QB position better. Rex has made your coaching position worse.
The disguise is that you THINK he's making your QB situation better because you look through a vacuum and think very short term. You see his stat line and see it's better than your past QBs, and you stop your analysis there. Fitz is actually the worst kind of QB to have in this league. He's not elite and he's not horrible. He's just good enough to keep his team mediocre, which means you arent contending for a super bowl but also aren't drafting high in a prime position for a difference maker at QB either. You are stuck in this position until you get rid of him. He's done this to 4 teams now. In each place the fans follow the same pattern of support. At first he looks good because of his stats and fans like him, then after a while they realize he will never get better and is actually holding the team back from greatness. Organizations have a win now mentality so they keep employing Fitz because he "gives them the best chance to win." Meanwhile, they aren't able to draft a quality replacement because they are drafting in the teens or early twenties. It's a viscous cycle.
Sneering at Fitz due to bad memories accomplishes nothing. Those Bills teams weren't very good. He's got some toys to play with now, and 50% of a defense to back him. The facts are this: with RF and a little luck, the Jets will chase a playoff spot. With Rex, the Bills will be lucky to go 4-12. It's pretty amusing to listen to Bills fans (family in WNY) who think they came out ahead in the trade off. But I'll give you full marks for having enough moxie to come here and banter after that game. Don't be scarce.
This what you and your compadres fail to understand. NOBODY here views Fitz as the solution. He is a guy who will take us from Sanchez-Geno shit into (hopefully) Petty-Hack promised land. Jets will not give him multi-year big contract. At best he will get another deal for 1, maybe 2 years, and that's it!
This isn't about comparing Fitz to Rex. Has nothing to do with it actually. They are separate conversations. Keep chasing that super bowl. You'll be chasing it for a long time with Fitz
I understand that. The fact remains we have your old QB and you have our old HC. And after the math is done, while you're sucking on wolf tit, we're "doing a Jeffersons." Nobody here said Super Bowl except, ironically, you. And we're a goddam sight closer than anything you've trotted out in the last 25 years.
Your argument would make sense if the vast majority of top QBs in the league were drafted at the top of the first round. But they aren't, so as usual your argument makes no sense.
Oh yeah, because it's not proven that the higher your pick the better chance of drafting a franchise QB.
