I guess I was wrong. I thought he would be signed by yesterday so he could participate in practice today. Still time........

Lol. Imagine making the most important draft decision in the history of the franchise based on the players’ agents.

I agree to a point. He could pull the trigger and tell his agent to accept the contract like Mayfield did. Its really a silly situation. He's just hurting himself and his chances at being the starter.

    Fuck Jimmy Sexton.

The negative PR he’s about to give his client by missing practice FAR supercedes petty language disputes.

That’s not being a good agent, that’s being a fat moron.

Wrong, due to it being the Jets, all bad PR and media attention will fall on them for being inept and not getting him signed.

It’s not on the Jets. Baker Mayfield went #1 and didn’t get what Sexton is asking for.

The guy thinks Mac will cave on anything because he gave in to him on the Fitz holdout. Time to set a precedent.

I know its not on the Jets, but the media dictates public perception and it will be the Same old Jets could not get their qb signed

Disagreed. This is making Sam look bad. I am confused by it actually. Off-set language, that will likely never be an issue since the Jets would never cut him during his rookie deal, keeping him out of practice is terrible. He will sign and everyone will move on instantly, but it is an odd hiccup.

Well all I see is people ripping on the Jets so trust me, Sam and Jimmy Sexton will come out smelling like roses.

Baker Mayfield told his agent to forget about the off-set problems and just sign so he can compete. Really bad first impression for Darnold.

Agreed but again, He can get away with it because its all about PUBLIC perception and that will never EVER be on the Jets side

If he doesn't perform well in practice, the perception in the locker room might change. The locker room is sacred and no one will bring up the fact that he held out, but people will think it. Its a bad look IMO.

Yeah, just depends how long this lasts. If he signs today or tomorrow it won't be a big deal. If it lasts into next week, then it will start frustrating fans for sure. I doubt Sam lets it get that far, but I also thought he would be signed by yesterday, so who knows?

Here's why it's a really bad look for everyone. As I understand it, the offset language matters only if Darnold doesn't make it through his rookie contract.

    1. Does Darnold really think there is any possibility he'll be cut during the term of his rookie contract? If he does, what does that say about his self-confidence?

    2. If this is the agent's idea of hardball negotiations, does Darnold have the backbone to stand up to his agent? If not, what does that say about his leadership abilities?.

    3. Does Maccagnan really think there is any possibility he'll release his No. 3 pick during the term of his rookie contract? If he does, what does that say about his confidence in his drafting ability?

    4. For the Jets, there is the reality that this whole think will be spun as SOJ.

Rumors are Macc and Bowles were seen at the Rosco Diner in a back room with some tall kid who looks like a cow on ice

Disagreed. Sam could get hurt in his first practice and never be the same again. In the event that this happens this holdout could save him millions one day.

That said I dont see the Jets budging on this. They have all the leverage, and they know it.

Strongly agree on 1 and 2 but disagree on 3. If Mac caves on this it’ll be used as precedent by his future 1st round picks that aren’t #3 overall pick, presumed franchise QBs.
