The media is like a gaggle of high school girls passing along gossip. Everyone just repeats rumors from anonymous sources they see on Twitter and with each successive tweet it becomes "fact." Unfortunately the media/entertainment has little concern for facts any more.

Common sense is that there is no way the voiding is for minor penalties, this is a league the fines you if you wear the wrong color shoe laces. The voiding for serious fines (PED, etc.) makes complete sense and people that balk at very reasonable void language are just red flags hinting we may witness an incident during his contract.

If Darnold is a standup guy he should realize this makes him look like either a) a shady character or b) a complete moron. There is no positive here for Darnold if this is true so he better grow a set and tell his agent to accept the language.

Sam needs a history lesson.. Ben Toothlessburger had Terry Bradshaw tell him pull his motorcycle crap after his playing days are over. Sam needs a reminder of what can happen when you're young and stupid.

Remember Michael Jordan's "love-of-the-game" clause? NBA contracts normally prohibit a player from participating in any non-team athletic activities. Jordan, however, insisted on a clause that allowed him to play pick-up basketball whenever and wherever he wanted. He got that clause.

Btw, just a little irresponsible for the beat writers and newspaper to call this a “hold out”. This is in no way, shape or form a “hold out”. Waaaaay different....guy literally has NO contract signed. He CAN’T be there. Not exonerating him at all, and nobody truly knows the nitty gritty details of whats going on and who is wrong. But this is not like a guy who has a contract and is violating that contract. And irresponsible to call it that when you are a professional sports writer.

My guess is Darnold will be in camp by tomorrow. He's not happy being away from team. Either way he's getting paid a lot of money, and will be the face of the franchise for the next decade.

NFLN is reporting that the issue is the agent is fighting that the guarantee is fined or suspended over egregious situations. The agent wants his bonus fully guaranteed no matter what.

Its not about regular fines or suspensions.

And is in every other Jet contract. Every other contract they've done for rookies in recent years. Adams & Lee, whos repped by the same people have it. Other agents are saying its not a big deal, most contracts have the clause.

And this is how you know it’s about one thing and one thing only: Sexton’s ego.

Sam Darnold is 0/0 for signing a contract with the NYJs! Surfing! Next thing we hear is no can sign because he's not allowed to bungee jump off the 300s in The New Dump! One of them thrill seekers! I'll give him a thrill! I bought this cheap ball of twine from Dollar General! Tie it around your waist and I'll kick you in the back and watch it unravel! Geronimo!:mad::mad:

  14. Sure sounds that way but Darnold & his family dont seem naeve enough to get steered in this sort of direction unless they are in agreement w Sexton or theres something else not yet unearthed. If it really is the agent causing all of this one has to think he’ll be fired soon

If Prima Darnold does not sign soon, he will then become Benedict Darnold. Greed is the root of agents. Motivated by money.

I don't care. Darnold hired him and Darnold is allowing this shit to happen. The hold out could be over any time Darnold decides. He needs to get his ass in camp

Agreed. The first pre-season game is the 9th. Not sure how many days of practice he'd need to play, but you would assume a few. So it is getting close to causing him to miss games, which would be unacceptable.

Yup. I think the agent(s) always are looking to pull back and gain a win. The easiest way to get the upper hand is to hold back the biggest fish. Would have been a total waste of time to threaten to hold out a Lee or even a Adams. But Darnold, the future face of the franchise, the franchise QB, now theres leverage because we all know the Jets are struggling with this given theyre getting close to a drop dead point where Darnold has to be in camp to compete for the starting job.

Did Darnold pass his physical and piss test? I cant think of anything shady about him other than PEDS that is a possibility..is he and the family dumb?? Who knows..maybe

I have no clue what this is really about ..only what we all hear from whats leaked to press

BTW ..if I was a kid and someone said you get 30 million to give up surfing for a few years it would no way be a problem!!! ... lmao and smh 8xs

Thats today. Has nothing to do with protecting yourself 2, 3, 4 years down the road.
