Apparently this is about Sexton trying to “win something” after losing the battle on offset once Mayfield conceded. Again, Mehta’s words, and im no mehta fan, but everything he said was fair and easily believable
The funniest part is it's a $30 million contract, right? For 4 years. I assume Aaron Rodgers will sign a 30+ million a year deal soon within the coming weeks. If Darnold plays the way I think he will, then 4 years from now he could be looking at an extension of 6 years, $185 million and I am sure that is a low estimate. So literally arguing peanuts right now compared to his future, but huge money for any normal person like myself.
This post and thread are all based on a bullshit tweet by Cimini. First every expert here claimed it was offset langilan due to Cimini misinformation, not the speculation is the Jets suddenly came up with a clause that voids Darnold's contract if he receives a fine. All untrue and laughable. There are clauses in Mayfield's contract that void his guarntees. So you don't have to go too far back in history to see it's not uncommon. I guess your rebuttal will be Mayfield was the first pick not third so it's not apples to apples.
Don't forget that via leaks, the various reporters are carrying water for the respective sides, so we may not be getting accurate information. Mehta is carrying water for Maccagnan by claiming the hold-up is entirely reasonable, commonly accepted terms that void the contract for a suspension (e.g., PEDs, conduct detrimental to the team etc.).. Cimini is carrying water for Sexton/Darnold by suggesting claiming the dispute is over terms that would void the contract for anything (even minor things) that results in a fine. Big, big difference. I have no idea which is true, but I get the definite sense the respective sides are using their favored writers and are playing the fans for suckers. It looks like Mehta is sucking up to Maccagnan, and Cimini is sucking up to Sexton.
I guess you have trouble with the phrase "if this is true." And you don't know anything about me, so spare me your bullshit about what my rebuttal is going to be. Why the hell are you so angry about this?
Obviously Sam needs to take care of himself And obviously it’s a business And obviously both him and the jets don’t give a single fuck about the fans But That being said, Sam is dead to me. Fucking bitch obviously puts nonsense ahead of football. Wish we could get 52 clones of Jamal Adams Going to be booing him hard. Another Jets nightmare
I'm upset at Darnold too but let's face facts, won't take much for us to forget this and be back worshiping the ground he walks on
I blame Sam Darnold 1st and foremost. He's a kid. A young man. About to be paid millions and millions upon multiple millions of dollars. Has a real shot and an actual chance to start as a rookie; for a team who just traded up to 3rd overall. He's now an NFL quarterback. A supposed to be natural born leader. One who's expected to lead by positive example. I hear reports of he's not too happy. His parents aren't too happy. Etc. Etc. Get the fk outta here you're a pen & a paper away from what, $30,000,000+? He's the one to blame. He needs to take his ass to training camp. Go and become a proven top 5 NFL QB of All-Time, as #24 Revis did within his CB position; and then this kid can have the RIGHT to hold out like this. He needs to sign the Jets contact. Earn his money. Go into training camp hungry. Fire his little agent. And save face for himself moving forward.
Lets calm the fuck down...Its just a couple practices thus far...The logistics will sort themselves out. Jeez people.
People are in an uproar because Darnold actually gives this moribund dumpster fire of a franchise a fighting chance to return to greatness..and there's a holdup (of course) Once the kid starts to practice and play it will be a relief...the next thing everyone will get is how the CS is holding him back Then the real problem will be keeping the kid happy with someone better than Bowles/Kacy and prob Bates
https://www.upi.com/amp/Sports_News...-Jets-QB-Sam-Darnolds-contract/9721532914939/ Now it's being reported that what's holding it up is if Darnold pulls a Roethlisrapist crash dummy act California style and injures himself in a non-football related incident. I guess not being able to surf, go skateboarding, or get eaten by a shark is a sticking point for Sam.
Yep. Until we all hear something definitive I think I'm going to watch a movie to pass the time. 'Sunset Boulevard' starring Gloria Swanson about Norma Darnold. I mean Desmond.
