no. according to reports it's the offset that is the hold up. The jets want an offset and he doesn't. what it means is his numbers are going to be roughly 4 years 30 million , 20 mil signing bonus all guaranteed (plus 5th year option). So he gets 20 mil for signing right up front. So i'll split the rest evenly for the sake of keeping ti simple and say his salary will be 2.5mil a year for 4 years. now he is guaranteed that money no matter what. if we cut him after say 3 years he still gets that 2.5mil for the 4th year. thats where offset comes in. With offset if a team picks him up after we cut him and pays him 2.5 or more million we don't have to pay him a penny for that season. Without offset we would still have to pay him the 2.5 million on top of what he gets paid from the other team. it allows players to double dip in a sense the reality is the chances of us cutting him after 3 years is pretty dam slim and even at that 2.5mil in cap space isn't a big deal to argue over saving 4 years in advance. just give him the no offset and get him in camp
Don't freak out, guys. Think of the positives of this situation: We get to see what we have in Josh McCown!
Mac stop being cheap, you know you aren't going to cut Darnold if it doesn't work out. if Darnold doesn't work out, you won't be here anyway. Then again, Mac wants to set the tone going forward, no more folding for Mac. I respect that. Remember when fans blamed Bowles for Fitz coming back? LOL
Pathetic. So does that mean he is sitting around somewhere? Is he on his way to the facility to sign now (give or take suggest being on the way somewhere)? Of course Girlish Mehta won't divulge. Just troll away. Mehta has the emotional maturity of a 12 year old
Think the problem here is that if the Jets blink, this agent has the upper hand on future negotiations.
