Judging NFL QBs based upon the college they went to, where they played under different HCs and QB coaches, and with different players, has to be tops on the list of ridiculous reasoning especially before they have played a down in the NFL.
I'm more impressed with the receivers going into this season. I want to see us going long, vertical, downfield, chunk plays...all that shit. We are the JETS!
Not so sure about that. To my knowledge, the Jets have had 3 Alabama QBs: Namath, Todd, and Greg McElroy. I loved Namath and he was great, but Todd was as bad as he was good, and McElroy was nothing.
What college a QB went to has no impact on how well they will perform in the pros. If it mattered, ever single QB from Stamford and Tennessee and Cal and Michigan and Notre dame should be drafted number 1. Sam is going to be a great QB and if we passed on him because of Todd Marinovich or Mark Sanchez or John David Booty, then shame on us.
Also I'd say that USC has historically had its fair share of really good QBs. Somehow USC didnt ruin Carson Palmer.
True. Geno you could sort of tell would be a bust but in college he had the benefit of an easy system that inflated his stats and he didn't have to think much. Sanchez had only a year and a half body of work and never showed the playmaking ability that Darnold has while at USC. But he was a good college player, but overdrafted. I never saw with Sanchez the ceiling that I see with Darnold
