Who else has a signed SI copy of Sam on the cover? Or met and talked to him several times?:)

Nope, met Dexter Holland from Offspring (BS, MS, PhD from USC in molecular biology), Tom Sellack, Will Farrell at USC games. Met George Harrison who was visiting Ringo Starr while he was recording an all star album. First time in my life I was speechless.

Lots of others, by chance...did get my daughter an autograph at the airport of Ricky Rocket with Poison, and one from David Grohl of the Foo Fighters while shopping in downtown Ventura, CA. What you'll do for your kids.

Can't live out here, or go to USC and not meet or see all kinds of famous people.

You are either grossly underestimating Rodgers arm or overestimating Darnold's.

I think the point is Darnold has plenty of arm to make all the throws. HisNFL career won’t be limited or derailed by his arm strength. And he is only 20 so will likely get stronger over the next few yrs. Allen has the strongest arm in the NFL and went well after Sam and Mayfield so it obviously wasn’t the ultimate factor in draft position

Love this. It basically shows you that despite the unorthodox release...it's not an slow release. It's just a little different but it has no effect on him being able to get the ball out within a normal time frame. Plus I believe he'll quicken it over time

Not only a super quick release but he's able to make difficult throws due to his ability to throw from multiple/different arm angles.

I think we got ourselves a winner. When was the last time our fan base landed the one QB that we all wanted? Before the NFL season was under way we had threads consisting of suck for Sam topics of conversation. On should we field a competitive team or not. We all wanted Sam some just didn't want to go 0-16 or at least see us compete.

Well as a fan base we were able to see our team compete, win more games than expected and exceeded expectations under McCown. And yet still landed our kid as QB faithful?

As a Fan base unfortunately we know bad QB play. We're experienced with bad QB play. But we also know good to great QB play due to watching the great one's carve us apart. I think our fan base got this one right.

I don't know when the last time was, but it still hasn't happened. If you go back and read the pre-draft threads, some of us wanted Rosen, others wanted Allen, and still others wanted Mayfield (including me). Hopefully, he will make all of us glad that we wound up with him, but it's not accurate to say that the fan base landed the one QB we all wanted.

Darnold wasn't everyone's favorite QB, but unlike the other ones he also wasn't anyone's least favorite QB. (Well I'm sure there must have been someone, but my point still stands.)

Yep. And his ability to throw on the run and with such accurately is truly a god given trait. I marvel at the college throws he makes on the run most pros can't with that level of accuracy. And I love his pocket presence, awareness. Internal clock. He knows what's happening around him unlike Sanchez who had no feel for the pocket. Or Geno who was a blithering idiot. Also no feel for the pocket and when he did sense something he would run 30 yards backwards.

And his processing speed at 20 is incredibly impressive. He can read a defense and react quickly and correctly to things they throw at him

    The majority wanted Sam.

I don't remember. Heading into the college season. Jet fans and/or the National media talking about multiple fan bases wanting to "suck for Rosen". "suck for Baker Mayfield". "Suck for Allen" etc. etc.

Like it or not, but the whole "suck for Sam" saying was a real National catch phrase/slogan. Heading into last year's college season every one was talking Sam Darnold.

Damn near 99% of the Nation had the kid going #1 after his insane bowl game performance against PSU the year before.

Look. Ths majority of Jet fans only watched USC games on Saturday last year because of Sam Darnold. He didn't come on our fan base radar over night, to say, he's been anticipated for.

Also plenty of Jet fans such as myself had to dream of other options such as Saquon Barkley (especially me), Josh Rosen despite concussion concerns, Baker Mayfield despite his less than prototypical size and previous head trauma as well and/or Josh Allen due to a rocket of an arm etc because to be quite truthful; most of us figured we'd have 0% chance of landing Sam. Including myself. Before the NFL season I created a thread about wanting Barkley due to no chance of Sam. I myself never imagined Barkley would go #2 overall but during that thread there weren't many Rosen Allen Mayfield posts.

Heading into last year combined with heading into the draft I'd estimate at least 70% of Jet fans would have selected Darnold over any other QB if could only pick one player. The reason so many Jet fans spoke up the likes of Barkley Rosen Mayfield is because most thought Sam was going #1.

The pulse of this fan base wanted Sam. Look around. His holdout freaked us out. He's rejuvenating this fan base as we speak. Look around. He's the kid we've waited for.

I wanted Mayfield...but I still wanted to see Sam take some NFL snaps before proclaiming him the answer to our prayers.

    I'm pragmatic like that.

Maybe Sam will prove to be the exception to the rule.

    It could happen...

To be fair both those guys didn’t look blithering idiots until they ran into NFL defenses.
