Yeah, pure BS. Utter nonsense. Sorry, Darnold made better throws. It's why he was the better QB. The better prospect. Why most people were shocked by Clevelands pick. I know it breaks your heart.
I liked all 3 guys (Allen should've been a 2nd round pick.) Can't believe we're still arguing about this. Mayfield is a great prospect and would be a Jet if the Browns went Darnold. I really think they'll both be great pros.
Lol so true. Someone asked a few pages back how far he would have fallen had the Browns taken Darnold? Third.
But I’ve already anointed him as our true franchise QB without him ever having played a down in the NFL (to the consternation of the pedantic crowd) so I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice.
Aaron Rodgers has been the pro guy I think Sams game is closest to. He and Rodgers have that same escapability and seem to make plays after their first options are covered
Two things. Sam has a very live arm but I don’t think he has quite the arm that Rogers has but it’s close. And I love Sam’s escapability but I don’t think he’s nearly the athletically gifted runner Rogers is. He can run, but Rogers can RUN.
rodgers is more athletic for sure but not by a lot. arm wise they are pretty similar. whether sam succeeds or not is going to be 100% mental. the great ones like rodgers make great decisions in split seconds under pressure.
Sam did this every game at USC and often into incredibly tight windows so I’m projecting that he’ll bring that to the next level given his age and work ethic. He made an incredible number of WOW throws the last 2 years.
i'm aware of what he did and why i was very high on him pre-draft but college isn't the NFL either. it's a big adjustment for a QB
He has more skillz than Rudy. https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/l...f0-0fdc-11e6-856a-f7a99b5ca9ab_mayfield-4.gif
I dont think Rodgers success is based on arm strength. I think Darnold has more than enough arm to make any NFL throw and thats only going to increase as he matures into a mans body and goes thru NFL weight training and conditioning As far as running Rodgers may have an edge, but imo its more important to be able to buy time in the pocket than to be able to break the pocket like Mike Vick I think it would be interesting to compare their combine numbers If I can find them ill post
Rodgers was 4.71, Darnold was 4.85. But it’s just not a speed thing, Rodgers is a really good runner. Sam can definitely move around in the pocket, has good escapability and can run when necessary, I just don’t think he’s as good a runner as Rodgers.
Sammy is just a bigger kid than Aaron, plus he plays with a linebacker mentality. Those skills brings him up a little closer to Aaron's skill set. Not comparing the two, Aaron gave us fits when he was at Cal, USC just had a dominate defense the years he played against us.
