Medically cleared is medically cleared. You can’t prove one way or another how king chads shoulder would have lasted had they held him out any longer.
    2. This isn’t an injury this is an illness. Completely different animal.

there may be plenty of truth to these speculations.

though i don't think he'll need to be shut down UNLESS he returns too soon.

It was over 2 weeks ago. Tank the season and build an Oline for next year. Picking up a CB or 2 wouldn't go astray either

Of course he'd say that, he's a kid who's going to push himself to play even if he shouldn't. The medical staff and coaches should be taking this decision out of his hands if they're not already

I went to the doctor yesterday and he had 2 things to tell me: Stop taking Zantac and get my pussy ass back out onto the football field!

I suspect he was cleared By Dr. Andrews who did the surgery. You should take a look at the pro-athletes Andrews has operated on many of whom went on to HOF careers after surgery.

Professional opinion isn't a guarantee, it's just the best we got. If the player doesn't feel he's ready he can seek further opinion. Nothing says he has to come back if he doesn't feel ready.

The teams have a vested interest in both getting the player back but they also have a vested interest in protecting an asset. The player also has a responsibility for his own health.

I don't buy the idea that Pennington was medically cleared to be an accountant instead of a pro Q. That doesn't mean he wasn't more fragile than other pro-QB's or subject to more or less risk.

If you watched the game, the o-line never had to block for more then 2 seconds. it was all dink and dunk and rolling out the QB. making it a simple 1 read short pass gameplan.

Sam is practicing today, but still no contact allowed. Interesting. It will be good for him to see where he is conditioning wise. Can't lift weights either still, but this is a positive sign. Wouldn't you think a player would need time to get back into game shape though? Especially with mono. He hasn't done much moving the last 3 weeks. Seems difficult to go from that, to jumping into an NFL huddle within 4 days.

short time frame yeah but if the doctors say he can play, then he should play.

Because a rusty Sam Darnold is better than Luke Falk, and Teddy Bridgewater got traded for Jachai Polite, so he's not an alternative anymore

Darnold has no business playing this week, even if his spleen is back to normal. Coming back this quickly is asking for an unrelated injury.

I hope you are right, but I have my doubts. I did watch the game, quite carefully in fact. What I noticed is that the Steelers have far more capable receivers that make tough catches, including the rookie, an OL that actually opened holes for the RBs, and a much more creative offensive game plan ( to your point) that what we have called to date. Having said that, I also saw that in reverse, the Steelers D got to the Bengals QB over and over within 2-3 seconds max. The Bengals OL is much more reminiscent of ours than the Steelers OL. Again, I would be extremely happy if you are right about our chances.

Teddy got traded for the draft pick used on Chuma Edoga. We’ll see if that is any better than what you posted.

I'm guessing that Gase is holding his options open and the announcement to the last second even though he has no intentions of starting Sam. But I'm with you, it would be monumentally risky to bring him in early. I'm more concerned about our ability to bring back some of our defensive players this week to improve our nucleus going forward into the next quarter of the season.

I'm with you. I like the progress he is making, returning to practice is good, but it would be nice to at least give him an extra week. Plus the Cowboys and Patriots are both home games. I honestly think the best case scenario is that Sam gets cleared Friday, but is still held out until next week.

How about we let Sam practice, the drs do their tests and let professionals that are seeing him everyday make an informed decisions ?
