With the ineptitude of this O-Line, the Jets should stretch out this mono narrative as long as humanly possible, swollen spleen or not. Sam, or any quarterback, is incapable of performing (let alone developing) behind such a disorganized, incohesive unit. To rush him back at this point is insanity. This team in general, is so far from competing for a Superbowl that its not even worth discussion. And as unimaginative as Gase's playcalling has been, the guy has inherited a horrendous O-line accompanied by below average receivers who, even when given time, cannot break free and get open. The organization is in need of a complete front office overhaul to repair years of damage, mainly stemming from poor drafting, but really it all starts with the O-line. For the love of God, even Bell has been made to look like an average RB... Douglas needs to get this shit done. He understands more than anyone as a former O-lineman. Lets go
LOL And people question why Gase comes off as an asshole. Because the reporters are just as bad as some posters on here. If the guy is cleared by doctors, he's cleared. If he's not, he's not. There's no fuckin gray area LOL We're not talking about an injury that may or may not be fully healed and if he gets hit wrong, he'll reinjure it. His spleen is either enlarged or it's not. I'll say it again, you are a moron if you think any doctor would clear a football player if there was a chance of him dieing due to contact. The fact that this is even being discussed is ridiculous.
So everytime the offensive line gets shady during his career, the Jets should sideline him until it gets better. Got it. And this "rush him back" narrative is idiotic. He's not being rushed back. He's either cleared or not. Again, why is this is fuckin hard to understand?
People eat the media's bullshit articles up and keep giving them clicks, so they keep making them. His spleen is either at risk or he isn't.
If he was a hockey player he would have removed his spleen in the locker room rubbed some dirt on it and came out in the next period to play.
People are internet doctors and just read what they see on the internet and are making their own diagnosis. The medical staff isn't going to put their reputation or their license on the line if Sam is at any risk to rupture his spleen from this injury. Also people bitching about not being in football shape..Brady has had man boobs his entire career.. Big Ben has been 240/250 lbs his entire career. That guy isn't in great physical shape.
https://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-41078992-4 One of the interesting subplots to the Sam Darnold situation is that, according to Adam Gase, GM Joe Douglas will be heavily involved in the decision on whether to play him Sunday. Usually, lineup decisions belong to the coach. In this case, a checks-and-balances system is wise. But let's not lose sight of the obvious: First and foremost, it's a medical decision. If the doctors don't feel he's ready, he won't play.
People are internet doctors and internet athletes. Not throwing a football for a few weeks and not being able to workout is not going to impact a professional athlete. These guys got where they are because of the talent they have and the incredible amount of hard work and determination to get there. Not to mention the Jets have MILLIONS of dollars poured into Darnold so I can guarantee you he is being monitored with his diet also
incase you didnt notice, i wasnt being serious. But if he isnt "healthy" why would they want to risk his health for a lost season..
Agree 100% with the fact that either he is clear to play or he is not. There shouldn't be any gray area what's so ever. Cleared means he is good to face all the challenges and potential risks that occur on the field. I would think that medically cleared and ready to play Sunday are somewhat different if he is rusty or out of synch in his deliveries. The big, big question for me this Sunday is the OL. They are cleared to play but are they ready and capable to do a decent job for our QB, any QB? Good point about Gase. IMO Gase coming off as an asshole is as much a part of the press idiocy as his own arrogance. BB comes across as an asshole more often than not, big difference being he is a perennial winner and can tell the world to fuck off. Ill take a winner that comes off as an asshole for us versus a classy looser. What I don't want is an arrogant looser. Not sure were Gase fits yet. Too early to tell.
no offense but this is so stupid. You think because he hasnt thrown in a couple weeks, throwing on Sunday will hurt his development?
Sam Darnold today on when he will return - "I want to make sure I will be safe out there and that I'm not gonna die" all the wet nurses on here can take a breath lol
not his call and we won't know until tomorrow. if the doctor gives the OK after his ultrasound he'll play sunday. If not he's gonna sit another week.
They both have the same amount of credibility on the subject. He should start a church also while he's at it. You know, because Jesus is the reason for the season and all
