I think it was Case Keenum who won 13 games and the Vikings let Case walk and Case started on the Broncos and then been a back up ever since, Vikings made the right decision on that one
No Don’t understand the love for Fields…he sucks as a QB…he’s a good athlete and can run and that’s about it He is just as inaccurate and indecisive as Zach was No thanks
I thought he'd shown some improvement this season, he was 4-2 from 6 games only 1 INT QBR 93.1 65%PCT , fumbles looked an issue though with 6. Though as ever, no point chatting about QBs until we have an OL worth talking about.
Case had 22 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, I would say not as well as Darnold but Case did play well in his last year in Minnesota
Exactly. There's still a decent amount of work that needs to be done on the O-line before we go about trying to solve the QB issue, especially this year with a draft class that is especially weak at the position. That's not to say that we shouldn't be looking to take a QB in this year's draft, as I've always subscribed to the philosophy of drafting one in each draft at some point (until you actually hit on a true franchise QB, anyway), but the O-line really needs to be the top priority because, until it is, we're not putting any potential QB in the best possible position to be successful. The O-line is in much better shape than it's been in years, that's true, but there is quite literally no depth on this O-line and there's still some questions about a couple of the positions as well, such as at RT and RG (do we extend AVT, what depth do we have there since he's gotten hurt each of his three seasons in the league so far?).
He did play well, not at Sam's level. Sam is also younger and has a top 3 pick pedigree and much better arm talent than undrafted Case. I would say this comparison is not even close. Case was more like a Minshew type. Sam is a highly regarded top draft pick who can make any throw and appears to be finally living up to his draft status. He will get a huge bag this year and there is no way Minny lets him go.
Every time I read something like this it's just twisting a knife in my gut. Darnold was a completely broken player by the time he left the Jets.
Here's a great article from JetsxFactor about getting Sam and/or trading for McCarthy. Who thinks the New York Jets should trade for J.J. McCarthy?
It’s not a great article if it’s about Sam Darnold coming back to the New York Jets unless it’s like The Onion or something.
The Vikings tiktok has a few great videos about Sam. It's bittersweet to see it, but I think we can all be happy for him. Sent from my genius mind.
Is he better than all the QB prospects this year? Jets are in position to pick a good one if they decide to.
The article is mostly to say that there is conflict there with Tanny being hired to find Jets GM and him having a media company. Like whether his opinion on JJ that he just let everyone know is something he is looking in the new GM or what... I could see his point there. However, they actually like the idea of getting JJ, but they think Minny might let Sam go he is a byproduct of Kevin O'Connell's (KOC's) system, citing Cousins' decline post it. I do think Sam benefitted from KOC to some extent, but I don't believe Cousin's example is valid. KOC only coached Kirk for two years and Kirk had similar stats as in years before for Washington and many years in Minny before KOC. Kirk's decline is most likely due to Achilles injury and age. Which is probably the reason why Minny didn't resign him. I think at the very least Minny will tag Sam. You cannot let this guy go and simply say the performance was due to KOC. Sam is making some really good throws as well. And certainly not in favor of JJ, who himself is recovering from a serious knee injury with complications, which required second surgery. I do agree though that JJ may not be available this off-season, just as an insurance, but if Sam starts playing well, sooner or later he will be on the trading block.
Teams don't let Pro Bowl QBs go (unless you're the Jets; apparently we let HOF QBs go, but I digress ...). They will resign Darnold and if he regresses, they will trade him and someone will give picks for him.
I just don’t understand why anyone thinks he would come back here. Sure money talks but you couldn’t pay me enough to work inside a burning building. It’s career suicide.
Read the article. It says that the Jets need good coaching/leadership and especially on offense or else their QB will suck.
