I think they'll mostly assess how much guaranteed money we can offer them compared to other teams. If it's about the same they may look at the QB position.
The NFL is a business. Free agents should and would consider the JETS this team was on the verge of contention prior to last year. The fixes are out there in free agent its how Tanne plans on luring them here and affording them is another question.
Article is BS.... Tannenbaum went to Woody early in the season to ask for the money to sign OL depth and good guy Woody told him absolutely not,, not another nickel till all the PSL's are sold... That's the word I heard.
I dont think contracts will be DOUBLE the size, but they should go significantly up. The biggest issue is what will happen with the cap floor that gms have to stay above since this will have by far the biggest issue on the salary increase. I think the nfl desperately wants to make sure the nfl doesnt turn into MLB with like 5 teams and everyone else is irrelevant
Since 2001-2011(11 seasons) NFL: 7 different SB champs, 14 different SB teams MLB: 9 different champions, 15 different WS teams
That's interesting - do you have the stats on number of different playoff teams each year? I know the NFL has a high turnover rate in that area.
The next television deal won't be as big as most people think, partially because the NFL Network is cannibalizing a lot of the network games and also because of the NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV with which viewers no longer watch television commercials but rather flip to another game when there is a break in the game they are watching. Advertisers know that, and fewer dollars are being put into traditional television advertising. Networks know that. The next NFL television contact will be worth less in it's entirety than the current one. And, as such, there will be no significant increase in the NFL salary cap.
I highly doubt that will be the case. The networks will pay, and if one doesn't, another will. The NFL is always one of the highest rated TV shows if I'm not mistaken.
It is one of the highest rated shows each week. And the networks currently lose money on it. Do some homework and get back to me.
I'd rather not. If you have a link I'll read it. Otherwise I'll just be a sheep and believe what everyone has been saying.
Coming from the guy who didnt know that what was left of the cap this year would roll over to next year’s about a month ago while it was a commonly known thing then...
Network television is fast becoming as irrelevant as print media. The major networks will buy into internet TV wholesale and use their infrastructure to partner with the NFL further to capitalize on the online potential for profit, because on the internet, the sponsors aren't relegated to 30-60 second spots, but rather intrusive web advertising, including social media. And this new deal likely will contain such ideas.
The new deals already done... It just doesnt go into place until 2014, the contracts were signed already?
Get your facts straight. I'm the one who told people two months ago that unused salary cap space rolled forward this year. You will never know more than me. Ever.
