There's a reason starters generally don't participate in special teams. In limited situations I can see value in plugging in starters, but as a permanent position, I don't like it.
This is a non-issue. Putting the better players on the field is a calculated risk all of a sudden? He's as likely to get injured playing his normal position.
I'm not sure what the point of this move would be. If we don't have backups that can block well on returns then that's a problem.

Can't use Leonard or Cotchery to return punts. Can't use Scott on the punt return team. It's like 6 or 7 plays per game. Stop treating the players like ballet dancers and let them play football.
