He shut me up for a week, that was one of his finest games of his career. Quick decisions, SHARP throws, and identifying the open man. No throws to quadruple coverage. Kudos to Gailey too for letting Fitz air it out against Rex Ryan's scheme. So this is what it feels like to have a QB-OC on the same exact page.
No one's mentioned the solid performance by Forte last night. Helped hold the LB's attention and gave the receivers a little more room. IMHO.
Anyone else pulling totally agree. Those LBs were playing 3 yards off the ball, leaving those medium dig routes open to exploit
I was really worried things were going to fall apart after that quick 14 point Buffalo swing culminating with Jalin fumbling a ball that was returned for a TD. But they kept it together and didn't let that ruin their night. Fitz was brilliant from start to finish. Our receivers are so good. I can't remember the last time we had this type of receiving depth. Getting Enunwa in the sixth round was one of the only good John Idzik moves. He's ferocious on the inside and really makes it hard for teams to key on both Marshall and Decker. Even Jalin Marshall is starting to produce a little now and become a part of the passing game. Forte is an animal, that was tough sledding all night. Rex sells out to stop the run and Forte still grinded out some tough yards for us and did a great job in the red zone making sure we scored TD's. Great win.
Ryan threw to the back shoulder a lot last night. Sometimes it looked like a poor pass as the receiver had to turn back to get the ball. But on the replay you could see that was where the ball had to go, especially with the safety closing. Hopefully that's something both he and the receivers know and can work with.
Miles right? yeah even Taylor said in his postgame presser that it was a broken play that they were able to make work because the safety came after him running and Salas smartly went deep. From a Jets perspective - things like that are fixable
Im pretty sure i understand what youre saying. No being condescending btw a few typos. He cant make deep throws consistently. Look at his throw mechanics. The reason is simple actualy, to accommodate for the lack of arm strength he has to essentially overthrow to add velocity and distance on the ball. He has a long wind up throw style. It's like a pitcher who overthrows. When that happens itd comes at the expense of accuracy. It was no coincidence that with Decker and Marshall, two big receivers, his numbers when up besides their play. Hes amazingly acurate when he has time to set and throw within his arm capacity. I.E. touch passes in the redzone and such. He can throw it up for them and let them get it. Im not knocking him for it, thats just being smart about what works. Its that same mechanic tho that leads to inconsistency i believe. He simply just tires his arm out. Some weeks he looks sharp, some weeks he looks like he cant throw 2 yards. Overthrowing can wear an arm out. I dont think he forgets how to play the game week to week. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
I wonder if the offseason contract with lack of training camp was what got Fitz in week one and after he shook off the rust and this will be what to expect going forward as opposed to the exception. They looked more like the down the stretch team from last year last night. That one throw up the middle to Decker was perfect. The Bills defense had played pretty well against Baltimore until they started to get tired late in the game. Here they were basically useless from the outset and it was a home game. One thing I like about Fitz is he tries to stay conscious of where the first down is if he runs. It's risky that he sacrifices himself at times but he still tries to keep the chains moving.
Not to hijack the thread, but Forte was a BEAST last night. He seems to get as much contact as Ivory did, but Forte somehow seems to do so with better angles. Ivory would give you his best shot and get stopped. Forte takes the contact, and keeps driving forward out of it.
They are, and i definely held my breathe after Revis got beat, but the defense settled after that. Revis cant be on fast recievers anymore. I dont care how bad they are. Looks like TB and Co. Agreed last night as well. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Yep, a "rookie" mistake, more or less. But the important point is it's fixable as you said. The real problem was Taylor breaking contain too often. Miles was just trying to do too much there, I guess.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can only remember one more deep pass to Revis' side after that and it was incomplete (read: underthrown, thankfully). So you have to know after the first TD Taylor wanted to go there, but there must have been help over top that made him check down.
No youre correct. The others were busted plays. They mixed the coverages much better. Buffalo was going max protect a lot too. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Something else that caused me some concern: on the pass that was underthrown, Revis was in a good position on the ball but he kept backing up waiting for it to fall in his lap, and the receiver was able to break up what should have been a badly needed pick (for DR). He didn't plant and gather to get the ball at its highest, which a ten year vet should have. Bad knee? Lack of confidence? Both?
Wasn't Fitz signed before the start of TC? I think he was. If so, he didn't miss any TC. He missed OTAs and mini-camp. I wouldn't have thought missing those was that big a deal, but I guess it was in Fitz' case, and perhaps in Revis' too.
i am usually a pretty big fitz critic today is not the day to be criticizing him ... gtfoh with that shit
Catapano lost discipline and didn't hold the edge and containment on one play where Taylor got free, but I don't recall if he completed a pass on that play. Stanford did the same thing on the play where Salas caught the TD.
I think hes hurt. He looks it to me. I think thats caused him to lose confidence. He has clearly lost a step but hes still pretty damn fast, but he looks like he had no confidence to keep up with anyone amd its that second of hesitation that's getting him beat. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
