Well he was statically one of the best in the league with down field passing the year before we traded for him. He's not a great down field passer but saying he CAN'T pass down field is just incorrect.

It was nice to see him throw down field with confidence last night. I do think Rex's defense lens itself more to down field passing more than others.

No, Fitz will play next week good or bad will play the week after also. Can we wait until the Jets are completely out of it and Fitz has shit the bed before talking next year QB?

Agree. Fitz's long throws had so much air under them, it didn't seem they would ever come down. However, against this opponent, it all worked because the receivers consistently beat their coverage to the ball. As great as Fitz was in this game, and he was great, I don't think the Jets should count on that kind of performance to win. The defense needs to step it up, especially the secondary. Some good defensive teams coming up, we'll see if the Fitzmagic can hang around.

You are entitled to that perspective and I respect it, but I can talk about whatever I please as well.

Well i dont think anyone was calling him Pennington, but whats infered is he doesn't have great arm strength, which he doesnt. It more affects a reciever such as, oh say a desean jackson type. Hed never be able to utilize him properly consistently.

Which is always the knock against Fitz. He'll have a good game then the next he'll make you cringe. I want consistency before we declared hes arrived.

That being said, im actually giving hin his credit. He played great. They were catching everything he was throwing.

Fitzpatrick gave me a game to keep on my DVR to watch next March.

I don't know about you guys, but that one last night was emotionally draining. Had the feeling it was headed towards a bad horror movie finish, but when all is said and done it's the stats that remain. Superb! The National TV audience got an entertaining Jets game, that's for sure.

I definitely need ten days off to recover from that win. I'm sure most of you agree,

My daydream for a victory Friday:

Fitz said he played better because he was "thinking less".

Imagine if Fitz, BMarsh, Deck, Matt and Q just ball out the rest of the way, putting up numbers and plays like that week after week? Is this the start of something?

I was hard on him last week so I'll give him his probs this week. Fitz was truly fantastic last night. I felt really happy for him with all the shit he gets for struggling against Rex and the painful loss in Buffalo last year, for him just pitch and catch last night with ease like that.

He attacked downfield like I've never seen him before. He was a Clady holding penalty away from 400 yards passing which would've been the first since O'Brien I think.

    -----

I am not taking away anything from Fitz by saying this, because ultimately the QB has to deliver and he did- but I was at the game, high in the midfield sections where I could see the whole field and the talent of this receiving corps was fully on display. Wow. All those guys, Decker, both Marshalls, Enunwa, they were running wild on Buffalo all night. The Bills had no answer. They started out stacking the box and leaving the receivers 1 on 1 and it was killing them. Finally they switched to doubling, even tripling Marshall and they couldn't stop him. And Eric Decker is so underrated and gets overlooked by defenses every week. Decker is the man

Saying he doesn't have good arm strength is fine. But words have meaning and should be properly used. Saying someone can't do something when they can is just dumb.

lol, actually, somebody in the game thread said Fitz's arm strength was worse than Pennington's at this point and that there is no way he's going to be a QB next season. Fitz must have had somebody relaying him game thread posts because he promptly began chucking duck bombs everywhere.

Fitz is just weird. Sometimes he looks like he hurls the ball with all his might and he throws up a duck. When I see those I cringe. Those look like Pennington post torn rotator cuff throws.

Other times he throws and it and the throw looks crisp and has a little zing on it. It's like you never know what type of Fitz you're going to get.

His deep throws worked against this team, but the reality is. they were not well place a lot of times. Those recieves made some great catches. He jusr simply doesnt have the ability to be consistent down field. His problems occur when defenses start tipping those passes or knocking them down. That didnt happen this game, so while im very happy he had a great game, i am aware this isnt to be expected.

I still expect this team to be competitive no matter what tho.

He doesn't have a good arm....the "deep balls" yesterday don't take a huge arm to make

It's fitting the ball into tight windows and deep sideline passes that he has trouble doing

He still played very well, maybe even great yesterday but I still am worried when there is wind or bad weather later on in the season

Regardless, good job and I hope Chan Gailey keeps calling games like this....We have great WRs and 2 RBs that are great as receivers from that position

    Oline also pass protecting well

dude what are you babbling about. Fitz nearly threw for 400 yards last night, something this organization hasn't seen in like 15 years. Of course its not "to be expected"

and he's got his flaws but last night he was flawless. His deep balls were right on the money last night. The ones where receivers were open they were delivered in stride and the ones in traffic they were back shoulder or away from the defender. His ball placement was excellent last night

They were ok, not right on the money consistently. His receivers were making great catches, so it all worked out. Im not even talking the bad Marshall drop either. You can be thrilled with the win like i am, but he wasnt joe montana or anything last night. He didnt need to be tho.

Can't help but wonder if he was in training camp if we would have seen a better Fitz week 1. I don't think he was terrible week 1 but obviously last night was a different guy.

If the safety on that side stays home, that play most likely doesn't happen. As soon as Taylor started to scramble, that guy suddenly pumped toward the LOS. That left most of the secondary wide open. I'm not a fan of gap-cancel defenses, and that's exactly why. Watch the replay if you can, it'll make you shake your head. I'd hate to be him when they watch the game film.

I do not buy that Fitz can throw a decent deep ball when he can step into his throws. It is the off balance flick of the wrist that some other Qb's can make that Fitz cannot.

Point two I do not buy either, he has been the most consistent QB we have had in years, not a high bar I know. When Sanchez or Geno dropped back I always had that feeling in gut that an INT of fumble was rt around the corner. WIth Fitz I do not feel that way.
