Might be nice if Rex waited til he won 1 game as a head coach before he starts insulting other organizations/coaches/players. If you have to say "He doesn't intimidate me", it usually means your scared sh%tless.
""I want (the Ravens) to know that my guys are playing like Jets and we're to be taken seriously," said Ryan, a Ravens assistant for 10 years. "The fact that I got passed over for the coaching job there ... does that mean anything? Maybe it does." Ryan interviewed for the job that went to John Harbaugh, who retained Ryan as the defensive coordinator last season. "I will always think it was BS," Ryan said. "I always thought I was the right guy for the job." When Ryan learned he wasn't getting the job, he recommended Harbaugh. He had nothing but praise for the Ravens' coach. "But I respect my brother, and I still want to kick his (butt)," Ryan said. "It's the same thing." Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f.../2009-08-18_jets_preseason.html#ixzz0OZ3lerLd "
Unbelievable. We go from: He's like a chicken. I used to chase chickens. I mean, Vick's not a chicken, but he runs around like one... To: We're going to watch the film. Evaluate. Then we'll make some decisions during the week. To: Watch out assclowns. We're the Jets and we're coming to kick your asses. And people are bitching?!? Loser attitudes breed losers. Rex clearly understands that. F the Pats. They need Rex to give them motivation? Really? Okay.
I agree. The players are taking his attitude to heart and it will show on Sundays. Ryan is not only good at scheming blitzs but will make the players belive in themselves. Mangini made them apranoid and afraid and it showed. This is a good change of atmosphere for the jets.
What exactly did Rex say thats "insulting"? All he said was if you need motivation from an opposing coach to get you going then you're probably gonna get your ass icked
No harm here. All this talk means is that when the Pats are up 35-3; BB will not call off the dogs. Ryan is probably doing BB a favor since a 40+ point blow out will not be followed by the media accusing the Pats of "running up the score".
My problem isn't Rex, it's just that despite his great "D" rep and ability to scheme and all, it's the players who play the game and while we're getting there, imho we're still not there yet, personnel-wise (again, jmho). That said, should Belichick's ego get the better of him during week 2 and he feels compelled to do a "run-up-the-score" (Joe Gibbs) type number on the Jets (should he get the chance), I trust that Rex will not make an issue of it afterwards even when pressed by the media.....and instead will bite the bullet, seethe beneath his grin, and plan for the day when his personnel can whip New England's ass straight up.
Last time the Patsies were going to score 100 points against us, they outscored us 20-10, their lowest total of the year.
Good for Rex. He is 100% correct. He did not come here to kiss bellichek's rings. Why on earth anybody thinks thats a bad thing to say is beyond me. It sends a message to this team and the fans: we are playing to win the AFC East, the AFC and the Super Bowl. That is the goal. We are not going to get there acting intimidated by anybody. F Bellichek and F the pats.
Well I can't remember a single time when the media accused a team of running up the score actually turned the L to a W, so thanks, but no thanks. The Pats aren't unbeatable, I can assure you.
honestly, I don't get all the patriots hype. With brady and belidick, I expect them to win 10+ games but that certainly doesn't mean they will destroy, even beat, the jets. I don't even expect them to make the playoffs, I feel Brady has his worst season yet.
This is sort of entertaining but it really wont mater once the season starts. I can't even tell if he is just being tongue-in-check and putting on a persona and thinks saying stuff like this makes a difference or not. Nobody wins the super bowl by "not being afraid". Watch NFL films and you will see plenty of teams before the game who are fired up and "not afraid" that proceed to go out there and shit themselves. Nick Saban and Mangini weren't intimidated by the Pats, they just weren't good at assembling and coaching good teams.
Absolutely correct. Also correct are those in this thread who have pointed out that since the last two coaching approaches of being a clown and of being comatose only resulted in humiliation from BB and company, to act like saying that you're not intimidated is going to somehow make things worse is ridiculous.
I think the shit talking is going to be good eatin for our opposition but screw it. Rex means business and that's some good shit right there. I go into every game, every football pool and every day into my office knowing the Jets are going to kick ass. Now we have a coach that feels the same way and I love it. No fag beilichicken in this dude. Fo sho.
I'm all for the ass-kickin' confidence. But until its proven on the field, that's all it is. Still great to see the guys fired up and ready to play without fear. In the end, I don't care what attitude this team has as long as they win.
