I've been a big Greene supporter as well but watching the game from the upper deck yesterday and seeing where the holes were opening up on the line - it just seemed like Greene was always crashing into the line somewhere other than where the hole was, like he just didn't see it.

He occasionally finds a hole and when he gets a little space he'll knock over a tackler or two but he just doesn't seem to have any vision or shiftiness. Powell was definitely a different story - much shiftier and obviously seeing the holes before crashing into the line. He also looked pretty good catching the ball. I'd like to see Powell start taking more carries and Greene less.

Also, maybe it was just because I wasn't paying attention to him but did Terminator play much yesterday? I can't remember noticing him at all.

I agree... man I don't get why fans are so critical of Greene, I thought he had an ok match!

Greene had 27carries yesterday in the heat. The two fumbles are unacceptable, but I like that we ran the ball that much. Keeps the opposing defense honest. Greene always takes awhile to get the engine fired back up.

Bring in Tebow to compliment. Powell had a couple of nice carries yesterday too.

The fact that they didn't abandon the run all game even though it was only producing mediocre yardage was a great thing to see. It kept the defense honest and paved the way for some great long passes. This is exactly what we never saw happen with Schotty at the helm.

I think folks just want to see a bit more explosiveness out of the RB position. Greene is more of a sledgehammer than a slasher so if he's going to be our feature back, perhaps two different uses of him for two different halves of games. 1st half, between him and Tebow, run just keep the defenses honest. 2nd half, ground and pound if playing with a lead. For the first time in quite a long time, this Jets team just might be better in the air than on the ground. Who knew..

    These are true.

We don't have a #1 back but bringing in a big name FA or even Tate et al isn't really going to help all that much.

I wonder what Bills fans might think on this subject. I of course don't know what they were preparing for in playing the Jets, but it sure looked like they were emphasizing their run D, perhaps to the detriment of their pass D. It looked a couple of times like they were using their cb's in man coverage, for example. Those guys are not Revis and Cro.

27 hard carries for just under 100 yards against a stout Dline........I'll take it....NEXT!

its not about the stats its about how he runs

he missed like 7 holes yesterday, we need him to be a force, period but then again maybe I'm spoiled by Curtis Martin

So Greene's 94 yds yesterday had nothing to do with any of our success in the air?

I think Greene played exactly like Greene yesterday, you can count on him to get positive yards in small chunks and if the way the game goes leans his way hell break them down and bust for a big one.

Throw in some support from Powell, Tebow and Mcknight... could be very surprising. Get the fumbles under control obviously but Greene was fine yesterday.

I thought the running game was good enough yesterday, but Powell and McKnight need to see some carries. Sprinkle in some Tebow too.

id like to see more production from the ground game and the 2 fumbles are bad. however greene had 94 yds and a td against a tough run defense. He can improve and I expect that he will improve as will our run blocking. I'm not going to join in bashing greene based on a decent game 1 performance.

I have a belief that Anthony Allen (Hill's former teammate at Georgia Tech) is going to beast one day. He came out in 2011 and has been hiding in the depths of the Ravens roster and practice squad. They signed him and he's active for tonight's game.

I honestly think he's better than Shonn Greene. He is a bit of a bruiser, also.

Dwyer for the Steelers the other night looked pretty good.

Isn't that what McKnight is? I'm not up on my Jets news, but what was the reason he fell out of favor this offseason? Every time I've seen him I thought he was really good.

Since the Ravens have a lead at the half, let's see if they put Anthony Allen in to absorb some carries and eat some clock.

Remember that the jets o-line is switching from a zone blocking scheme to a man blocking scheme. I think with the man blocking scheme the rb is supposed to run to a designated hole. In a zone blocking scheme, the rb is supposed to pick the hole.

Also, I'm sure that the o-line has emphasized pass blocking rather than run blocking after last year so that Sanchez won't be taken off the field on a stretcher. The run blocking and the running game will improve as the o-line gets more experience with this blocking scheme.

Who cares if they had a low ypc, they moved the ball. If the fumbles continue, then yes, that's a big deal, not a low avg when playing 20 points up the majority of the game. Like everyone else, I want big yards and explosiveness from the RB position, but for Christ's sake, Greene has 27 carries for 94 yards and a TD. I'd take that every week. Would anyone have a problem with 1500+ yards and 15+ tds?
