Nowhere have I said that the Jets shouldn't run the ball. In fact, a balanced attack would be great. But the Jets have not had a legitimate, dependable passing attack for years, and when their "impregnable defense" lets them fall behind by 2+ touchdowns, their run first, "Ground & Pound" offense has been overmatched. If Bowles is going to rely on his defense to keep games close enough for his run-first offense to have a chance, that's not going to work.

On the other hand, if they can get a stud RB who can score any time he touches the ball, and can catch the ball, and they improve the OL so that the running game can take the pressure off whichever QB they get, that would be great. This approach is what I argued for last year in lobbying for them to take Fournette or one of the other good RBs, but they decided that 2 safeties would be more useful. With that track record, I remain skeptical of them building a SB-caliber offense.

Well said CC. Bowles will get this running game going this offseason by drafting a pass rushing OLB at 6. He and Macc and so in sync with their logic. One talks about running the ball the other does nothing about it. So glad we have this team of geniuses.

Actually Bowels gave us a snap shot of their offseason plans. No expensive, competent QB will be signed. Only cheap garbage types like McCown. A 2nd tier RB and 3rd tier OL types. Heavy drafting of defensive players. With the top 3 being back to back to back CB's. All BPA of course.

Run first offence means you try to establish a running game to set up the passing game and play action. when the defense stacks the box you pass the ball.
It doesn't mean you run the ball every first and second down or even when they stack the box.

A pass first offence tries to set up the run by establishing the passing game.

I read an article that Bowles said he thinks " bates can mesh the running game and the passing game better" and that
Morton's philosophy clashed with what he wants the offense to be.
After Forte complained about not running the ball enough in the falcons loss, the next game they ran the ball more
And put up 186 yards rushing against #3 ranked run defence...buffalo, and beat them 34 to 21
We also beat jaguars and put up 260+ rushing yards on them.
I am not sure but i think Every game we won this year we had a good running game (except browns game)
I totally agree we need to Draft a rb and fix our offensive line through Draft and free agency. This will help our running game
    As well as passing game.
