In case you guys didn't realize... McCareins sucks! He's terrible. I'd love to see him moved and Porter take his place.
McCareins in the slot is where he'd benefit the most...Porter is a solid #2 WR and would make a nice duo with Coles... With that said...RUMOR!! Ah man 3 more days until all of this is over and the good stuff starts.
I did not think the title would lead people to think it happened..I apologize..I did not put *BREAKING NEWS* or something like that..I was just typing quick since I just heard it..I never thought or meant to cause such a disturbance..i have been here for 3 years and this is the first time I dropped the ball, so how about giving me a break and for those who cursed at me F*CK You too and get a life.
Yeah thats what I meant, if the title ended with ??? that would be fine, but I clicked on it possibly thinking that we had made another pre draft trade with the Raiders. And we know how well that went last year.
I think some people in this thread might have Jerry Porter confused with someone else. How is moving down 3 slots in the draft to get a guy with questionable work ethic and still waiting for his "breakout" year 7 years into his career. The only difference I see between Porter and McCareins the last couple years is that McCareins has slightly worse numbers in an offense that throws the ball ALOT less then what Porter has been playing in.
I DONT LIKE THIS DEAL AT ALL if there is ANY -- ANY truth to it at all. We need O-Linemen not more receivers. We can get them later in the draft. I dont like it.
But he's still only 27 years old, entering the prime of his career. His numbers the last two seasons have been good...in 04' he was the #1 option and got 998 yards with 9 TDs...Then when Moss came and he was the #2 option, he had 942 yards with 5 TDs. He's proved to be a good #2 receiver, and JMac's best years in Tennessee, where he was in the slot...He got a 3 year/$21 mil contract I believe last offseason...So, to move down 3 spots, to get a player in his prime with only 2 years remaining on his contract would be pretty good.
And the Raiders threw the ball nearly 600 times each year. Speaking for last season, Porter was 3rd in the AFC with 142 passes thrown his way yet he had just 76 receptions. On a team like the Jets throwing 400ish passes a year Porter would likely have worse numbers then McCareins posted the previous 2 years.
I'm not taking sides, but when you say he had 142 passes thrown to him, does that include the 50 or so that Kerry Collins airmailed 20 feet over his head or out of bounds as soon as a pass rusher entered his zip code? Stats can be illuminating but I really wouldn't put too much faith in that one...
Read the signature for why they aren't getting rid of McCareins. He was a slot receiver before he came over from TEN. He was real good in the slot. I am not about to turn down Porter to make room for Jerricho friggen Cotchery, that I'll tell ya.
And the Jets FO should be banned from the building for making this deal. We have a realistic shot at drafting an impact guy at 4. Why do we move down for Porter, and average receiver at best? This is just as bad as those stupid 3way deals that were rumored last week.
Yo man don't let them bother you, they banned me once for just stating my opinion....I thought your post was very informing
hey this rumor has legs becasue then the jets could select nagat trade him to the raven for cutler and more pick from the ravens then they get cutler prob mangold and a slew of 2nd rounders dont look past this rumor
the raiders QB...excuse me....QB's suck...my little brother can throw better then all of them...their must be a reason he has so many passes thrown his way with only 76 receptions....why dont you look at his amount of dropped passes..that will tell the story Porter is a huge upgrade from J Mac...him an d Cotch can share the slot...and move into more 4 WR sets..
i would, hes not worth moving 3 spots in the draft for..........put cotchery as a number 2 WR and he'll put up similar numbers to porter for a cheaper price. add in the fact if Porter is such a good reciever we might as well select vernon davis instead of getting porter. someone who will be better than porter out the gate with a decade ahead of him (barring injury of course)
actually Mcariens was making a name for himself playing the #2 wr in Tenn. with Mason on the other side. Try and remember Bennett was hurt for a while that year, and Mcariens made the most of it.
