According to Mel Kiper this draft is only 8 elite players deep with Bush being the elite of those elites.

Bush is not worth Marcus McNeill and Manny Lawson.

Additionally, I think the #1 overall could be had for our #4, #35, #103 and our second and fourth rounders next year (conditional picks if they are either at the top or bottom of the round.)

The chart may say that, but nobody in the NFL makes deals by the chart. I would be surprised to to see the Jets move up without giving up next year's first rounder--I'd say that someting to the effect of the #4, next year's first and the #35 would probably be the deal. That deal is not going to happen.

There is one way that we could land Bush: If the Texans don't want him and take Mario Williams then we could deal with the Saints, who would have no motivation to stay in the #2. They would probably take D'Brickashaw Ferguson anyway, and they will still get him at the #4 pick. It would be cheaper than convincing the Texans to come down.

That being said I would still be stunned if Reggie Bush isn't the #1 overall pick in the draft.

I think every single team in the NFL now has a value chart, and use it to make trades.

The Giants traded the #4 pick, the #65 pick, a future first rounder and a future 5th rounder to San Diego for the first overall pick in 2004. I don't know what kind of value chart you're using, but it sure as hell doesn't equal out on mine.

Teams use the value chart as a loose guideline for what they should expect to get in a deal. Trades are made by shrewd negotiating and common sense.

If we trade up and the Titans don't take Leinart I will personally kick the shit out of Tannebaum

I agree with this. But each has different value charts. They tier their prospects so every board is different.

every team has elite prospects "top 5-7" or 8 as Kiper says. Team one could have 3 elite and team 2 could have 8......

the next tier could be sure 1st rnders(where all 32 teams have a prospect a 1st rnd grade that can be 17-24 players in this draft) If you look there is alot of movement in the middle of the draft. cause these grades vary

then its possible 1st rnd picks could be anywhere from 17-40

SF deal could have happened cause Denver didnt like the top 20, but SF liked the top 20(alot of teams might think so)
but SF didnt like the top 60. And maybe Denver thinks this is a deep draft(remember not all 32 teams do) Just like this board if we ranked players after 20 it would be a crapshoot noone knows anything.

then they teir them on other basics for the later rnds.....
example Kenyon Rambo people thought he should have been picked in the 3rd rnd, I said 5th others said he shouldnt be drafted. when he was selected in the 7th it just showed how many's views are different but NFL scouts previal cause rambo didnt do crap.

    1st overall = 3000
    ------------------
    3000 points

    4th overall = 1800
    65th overall = 265
    Future 1st = Approx. 1000
    Future 5th = Approx. 35
    ------------------
    3100 points

Obviously other factors play a part, like how they traded the rights to Rivers, whose value wasn't as high as the usual #4 overall pick. Or how these aren't set in stone point totals, each team's totals are different, and how much the Giants really wanted Manning. But using a widely accepted chart, the totals were close.
