Rule......Your Round 1 Mock is excellent...nice job. I know Baltimore is looking at D. Thomas, but I can't see them taking a WR in Rd 1. I like Odrick moving up....good decision.

I like all the players you selected for the Jets, I just don't think we will spend our 1st 2 picks on DL. It's been mentioned that Joesph could play DE in Rex's scheme. Also, Rex doesn't dress many DLineman, his system is dependant on the secondary. I agree we need to get younger on the line, 2 top picks is overkill.

Calloway is my projected player in the top of rd 4....in my mock with trade.

Barnes and Byers will be drafted much sooner. Barnes is getting quite a few visits.......I'm projecting Rd 3.

I'd like to see a Safety included in the Jet's draft.

    Nice to see some criticisms.

I think part of the reason Rex didnt dress many DL this past season is because we didnt have anybody with which to rotate, we only had 4 guys worth their salt. I think the age on the DL is our biggest issue. Carrington becomes Ellis' eventual replacement and Joseph Jenks replacement. While it might be seen as overkill taking them as our first two picks, if the value is there I see no reason why we shouldnt take them. The Jets are very lucky in that they don't have any pressing needs, youth on the lines and depth are the most important pieces this draft. Because this is the case, I see no reason why we should shy away from improving the DL just because it is against conventional wisdom in a normal year.

I understand the byers belief, and the more I hear, the more it becomes clear to me he won't be sitting their in the 7th.

Barnes is that slot guy that I want, and while I think he has the talent and the tape to be a 3rd round guy, I don't think he ends up being drafted that high. I certainly wouldnt be opposed to drafting him in the 4th, I think this guy has future Jerricho Cotchery written all over him. He isn't a burner, but he runs great routes, has a knack for getting open and has stickem for hands. But based on what I have heard and read about Barnes doesnt appear primed to go that high. For our sake, i hope he doesn't because he won't be in a Jets uni if he goes that high.

in regards to a safety, I think that if the Jets don't grab one by the end of the second, I don't think they take one. They don't want a developmental guy, we have Digs for that. they want someone who will come in and compete for pt right away. I think that if they don't take Chris Cook at the end of the second (and if we don't acquire a 3rd round pick) we won't be taking a safety later on.

I wasn't trying to be critical in a negative way of your mock.....just a critique. I love every single player you selected....all are terrific players in the Jet's system.

In the local news here in Ohio, the Bengals are really interested in Barnes. I've also heard from my Brother-in-law, a Bear's fan, the Bears are looking closely at Barnes. Barnes production is off the charts...so late rd 3 is a strong possiblity.

I understand your reasoning of the age of the D-Line...I just don't see us using both top picks on D-Line. Remember, 2011's draft is going to be LOADED with elite DE talent.

We still need more depth at CB and a possible starting Safety.

This was exactly what I was thinking upon reading the Mock. Given the feedback it seems some of our most knowlegable draft posters agree.

I love that 5 of 7 picks are lineman. They're rarely sexy picks but are key to long-term success of a franchise. That said I might have liked a DB in there too (perhaps rather than the RB or if the WR is gone by that pick).

Overall, I would be thrilled with this draft though.

Champipple indeed my bother, Champipple indeed :jets:

I guess criticism is the wrong word then. But for the most part I got mostly glowing reviews, not that I am complainaing of course! It's just that I knew this couldnt have been that good, I put a few hours into the whole process, but I am by no means one of the draft experts on the board.

in regards to barnes, that somewhat dissapointing to me, because I love that kid and like you said his production is off the charts, heck in the youtube video, they even mention his videogame stats.

In regards to the 2011 group being loaded with DL there are two sides to that coin. If you are in need of a player you can dip into that talent pool, but if you already took care of those needs then while everybody is taking players you don't need (in this case 3-4 ends) then other players that we actually need will fall to us and it gives us the ability to fill other needs.

2 sides to every coin! It's part of the reason we all enjoy the draft talk, and I think it just gets better and better every year.

Shit I'd honestly rather go into the 2011 draft NEEDING a DE since there is so many to choose from that fit our style of play. Heyward,Clayborn,Romeus etc.... the list goes on. I hope they pick up a DE in the later rounds for depth this year so we will specifically target one next year. Oh and Great mock if this is the way it ended up I would have no quandaries at all.
