My stance is this: Mariota is a no brainer if he falls to us! If it comes down to Winston or Cooper... I think that is a very very tough decision and if we take Cooper we better have a plan at QB because that's been a our Achilles heel for too long. Winston is a great player but is a douch... Hope we make the right call.
Lol there are 3 more that are off the radar that will be starting in 2 years. You're going to be saying "fuck, you guessed right on 7 of them". _
Agree completely do not want Winston at all. If Mariota is gone I want Cooper. I'd rather take Bradford/RGIII, or even Hoyer with a revamped line and WR core of Decker/Harvin/Kerley/Cooper. Winston has a hard time at FSU I couldn't imagine him in NY.
There will likely be two QBs out of this year's draft that turn into solid prospects. There will probably be another couple that fool people for a couple years. The rest will fall through the cracks. This wasn't close to the great QB draft you were shouting to the heavens about.
Ok I'm out at a nice closing dinner in the so I'm feeling benevolent. Not al Qaeda benevolent but nice nonethesame. Which 2 QBs do you think will turn out to be solid QBs and I'll give you 5. _
All valid points, but something tells me you can do this with most positions. The other thing I can guarantee you is the lack of impact other positions have in comparison. I'd you find that high caliber QB, then that elevates you to playoff contender on its own. No other position does that. Let's look at WRs since if you don't want a QB, seems the consensus is that people want Cooper. What top WR has transformed his team? What top WR has won a Super Bowl? Not calvin. Not Dez. Not Julio. Not Green. Not Andre. Not Fitz. With the fact that you don't set your franchise back years with ridiculous contracts at the top of the draft, bad teams can finally afford to take chances. If it doesn't work, then you'll get another shot. Too often, bad teams would take chances at the top and get stuck with a bloated contract that kills them for years. Now these contracts are a drop in the bucket. For that reason, I take the chance on a QB now and start developing him. If we suck again next year, there will be another Cooper. Build your team with the real building blocks and then build around it. Start with the QB if MM or Winston are there. Take the gamble. Low risk high reward IMO.
If Mariota or Winston are on the board, then I'd take one of them for sure. If not, then I hope Cooper is the pick if he's on the board.
