Cordy Glenn or Upshaw would make me so happy. Both fill huge positions of need and Upshaw is a player many people here wanted us to take first even though he was obviously dropping. Upshaw is as safe a second round pick you can take though. The kid loves football and is a hell of a football player. What he lacks in physical talent he makes up with heart and football IQ.

Heart and football IQ don't do anything against Adrian Peterson on the edge. The NFL is a much higher level of competition than the SEC. The reason Upshaw is falling is that he doesn't fit all that well in either a 4-3 or a 3-4. If the Jets took him he'd probably wind up at ILB, which would be fine, but if they took him as the answer at OLB it means we're still looking for the replacements for Thomas and Pace.

Glad to see Manish tweet this:
I've been told #Jets haven't targeted particular position for their 2nd rd pick. They won't reach for need. OL, WR, Front Seven all in play

I totally agree with trading up for either Upshaw or Glenn. I think that's the best move we can make. 2 first round talents that fill holes.

Give me the best safety, OL, WR or OLB available. I don't care which it is, just fill a need. If we could land Upshaw I'd shit, but I don't think he'll last and I don't think we will go pass rush twice in a row this early. If Jeffrey is there we should snatch him up. Maybe Sanu?

As tempted as I am to move up, just stay put and let the board come. I'd be thrilled with Glenn, Massie, Silatolu, Hill, or Jeffrey. Sanu, Curry, Tru Johnson, or Branch would be pretty nice as well.

I'd put Randle in that group as well, but him being shut down twice vs. Alabama is a bit concerning. Jefferson is a terrible QB though and I can't claim to have seen either of those games, so I may be overreacting to a big nothing.

Until I know we can get production out of our QB I really don't like the idea of drafting high for a WR. Looking at it strictly from a value perspective if our team is focused on defense and ground and pound I want us to be solid in those areas before we use good picks to try and improve an area we aren't focusing our team style on.

So I hope we don't waste a pick on a WR that won't have as high an impact as a RT or a OLB.

well imo still need an edge guy - i dont know much about curry and upshaw is not an edge guy. but there does come a point where u gotta take upshaw if u are a 3-4 team.

i am OK with the coples pick but i really would have prefer more of a pure ILB or OLB with the pick.

coples reminds me a bit of richard seymour. i wonder if the jets plan to use more
    4-3/5-2 looks this year.

It is ridiculous that the Jets have put themselves in a position to have to draft an OLB when they have huge holes at WR RT FS RB...

If they had taken Ingram instead of Coples they would be taking a WR or RT or FS or RB instead of an OLB in this draft.

I'm starting to think that our coaches want to play Ducasse at RT. Maybe they think they can teach him with a full offseason how to be an average RT. It scares the hell out of me but I cant imagine him being worse then Hunter.

I agree if they don't start Ducasse this year we're wasting a roster spot at this point.

I'm really hoping they go OL or LB in the 2nd. If they feel that BPA is a WR I wouldn't hate it but I'd definitely prefer that they wait on WR until at least the 3rd round, if not later.

  16. An awful lot of good football players that fit what the Jets do still available. With the definitive needs the Jets have..it makes sense to take the best player available regardless of position.

Consensus right now is that there will be a run on OL & WR before the Jets pick. What that does is open the door for a LB or safety prospect to fall into the Jets laps.

Andre Branch really intrigues me. Jets spent a ton of time scouting him. He fits into what Rex likes on the edges as yet another long arm/wingspan guy. He's not an elite pass rusher but is a very good one. Meanwhile he can set the edge, diagnose plays & runs sideline to sideline. He's a complete player with room to grow physically, whose only real detriment is stiffness in his hips & some needed time in the weight room. He'd bring yet another long athlete for the front 7 with the versatility to play in a number of different spots.

Will he be there at the Jets pick? I believe he will. Will he be the best available? That remains to be seen.

I think we are gonna run 3-4 and 4-3 defenses so its a hybrid defense so we will just cause havoc as far as game planning for us

Either Hill, Randle or Massie. It time to fill some holes. If Braylon is truly coming back then go either Curry, Branch or Martin

Sanu would be a great addition to this team. I'm biased as an RU alum, but that also means I've seen him play A LOT. I think he's the second best player ever from that school other than Ray Rice. In fact, they're similar in heart, motor, and character. It was a frequent sight to see a defender shaken up tackling Sanu. Strong for his size. Great hands, great blocker, a playmaker. I'll be shocked if he doesn't have a great NFL career.

But, he'll end up at NE and I'll be PISSED. Belichick's kid is at Rutgers and he visits. His kid's telling him to draft him. He'll listen.
