GJF hard argued that Clemens had a chance to win the job as a rookie. WSW just pointed out that Pennington was a seasoned vet at that point and we were happy with his performance in 06. Clemens didn't stand a chance at the job at that point.
True, as long as you can be sure that these fans truly know what they're talking about. We all tend to get swept up in what we would or wouldn't like to see. It colors our vision when we're talking about this team. I'm frustrated as hell with Clemens if this is true. I was hoping at the very least for a solid QB competition through camp. I couldn't see a downside to Clemens playing well and earning a chance to start this season while Sanchez learns. If he's simply going to shit the bed from day one, though, why bother even keeping up the charade of a competition? It sounds as though Ryan's more than willing to end this quickly if Clemens keeps tossing picks.
True, but there's no reason to rush him along too soon if he's not ready. If it's close it should go to Sanchez, but if it's not then we should let Clemens have his shot. If by mid season we're not winning then we make the change. If Clemens is guiding us to wins then it would be safe to stick with him I think.
These are excuses. He is not an NFL QB period Bring in a Veteran please and cut this dead weight I don't need another training camp to show me what I know
If Clemens keeps up these interceptions then I think Sanchez has the green light. I can't believe he is still over throwing easy passes 3 years into it. I thought he would have more of an upper hand on Sanchez but it doesn't look like that as of now.
Sanchez is the Same Height as Kurt Warner and Taller than Drew Brees. He's no Big Ben but his height should not hold him back at all as well. Its the most over rated thing some around here look at in a QB.
I don't care about his height. The lack of speed on his release in a lot of the video I've seen on him is becoming a concern for me, though. I know it's TC, but damn.
I don't agree with the whole "if it's close in camp then Sanchez gets the nod' argument. Here in NY in the land of media scrutiny/monday morning quarterbacking every Sanchez misstep will result in 2nd guessing and an eventual QB controversy. I think if it's close you go with Clemens and let him show whether or not he can cut it. If he can't then Sanchez missing 4-6 starts is not going to hurt him. Once we give Sanchez the keys to the car there should be no looking back.
agreed. i'd love to see the kid step up and contribute... who wouldn't? the reality however is this should be KC's time. The length of said time, however, shouldn't be a given; as you pointed out. it would be more detrimental, in my unprofessional opinion, to have a revolving door thing with the kid.
