Roster news finally broke: https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/jets-sign-s-sheldrick-redwine-rb-josh-adams Why so many safeties, not sure. Adams is curious addition, no née all those RBs. Maybe Carter out, or Perine inactive? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm certain that there must be a valid reason they added Redwine and Adams to the 53 man roster. Adding the two safeties to the PS is a bit of a curiosity when they already have Neasman, and I think Haskell on the PS. Perhaps Joyner isn't recuperating well from his injury, and it's insurance in case Davis is rusty or isn't ready to go when they initially thought.
Sure you are correct, I just read Perine has injury. Still a lot of safeties! It turning into DT position. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This coaching staff is putting a lot of weight into the front four being able to stop the run effectively. With Davis out and two undersized safeties flanking Mosely, we better hope Fatukasi and Williams create havoc on running downs (and stay healthy) or else we're potentially heading towards a bottom ten run defense.
A. Davis is on IR so the earliest he can return is week 4. Who did we remove from the roster to add Adams and Redwine?
I wonder if Saleh looks at the safety position and linebacker as complementary in some of his schemes. So the rotates them in either or position depending on the play. Just a guess on my part.
They did, and already converted two to starting linebackers along CJ for week one. I think Davis injury is creating some work arounds for the first 4 weeks at least.
Safety is essentially a hybrid position and some safeties have more LBs skills or more cover skills than your standard FS/SS so I applaud the innovative use of talent like that. Seems like Saleh is coaching where football is going.
It’s where football is, not where it’s going. Our Jets have just been behind for so long. I truly think it’s going to flip back in the coming years as some teams will load up on beast linemen, run it 40 times a game and hammer everyone else’s 240lb linebacker/safeties. I think New England is headed in that direction.
They're already there. They might run the ball 50 times against us in each game. They have two big bulky runningbacks in Stevenson and Harris along with two 350+ pound offensive lineman on either side of the line along with the signing of their two new tightends. It's unfortunately perfectly built for November/December football.
Yeah, I was making a joke about "where football is going" because it's always fluid and it's a fools errand to "find the guy that's coaching where football is going." That whole search for the next McVay when all the Jets needed to do was hire the best coach available and stop trying to jump on some bandwagon trend like they have been trying to do since Woody bought the team. Great coaches adapt. We'll see if Saleh can do that.
Redwine is a nice upgrade over the backup Safeties and also a good hedge for Davis who’s gonna take a bit time to get back. And Perine is still hurt
Not sure the jets are sold on S Davis for the short term or long haul. I know Davis has had some injuries, but I'm not sure the jets are very impressed so far. Just a thought.
3 years after Macc signs Le'veon Bell to a very loud and public deal, the guy is on the practice squad of the Ravens.
that happens when you are paying someone 45 mil a year and they refuse to play for you. watson is eating up almost 25% out of the cap which is fine for a pro bowl QB but not when they are sitting out.
NFL has taken no action against him. he's not technically sitting out as that's not allowed without heavy fines. Houston doens't want to piss him off so they are rostoring and paying him but he'll be inactive gameday and hasn't been practicing.
