I'm rooting for him, not just for him, but that he makes the Jets better, but in my experience there is such as thing as :injury prone", and I would steer clear of guys like this. It's why I thought the Dee Milliner pick was so bad when his name was called. Maybe he's gotten the injuries out of his system, but I'm skeptical.
Thanks. Someone said that the only John Franklin cut yesterday was a DB not a DE and I went with that.

Heavy hands and above-average upper body strength. Some twitch to his game but not an explosive upfield player. College Recap: Recruited out of Greenville, Texas, Franklin-Myers appeared in eight games as a true freshman, making 11 tackles, including one for loss. He was second-team All-Southland the following year after making 32 tackles, including 17 solo, with 8.5 tackles for loss and six sacks. Franklin-Myers added 32 tackles (20 solo), 14.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks and four forced fumbles while earning first-team All-Southland honors as a junior. His big year included a performance against West Alabama in which he totaled seven tackles with three sacks and a forced fumble. Franklin-Myers was named second-team All-Southland for a senior year that included 55 total tackles but just 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble. -- R.J. White
I know that there will be no world beaters, but I think there were two better kicker options than the one Douglas claimed, and Keelan Doss seems like a better WR prospect than Berrios. There was also a veteran WR whose last name is Harris who was in an article a couple of days ago that seems like a better choice than Berrios imo.
With some guys it's fluke-ish. They're not injury prone but a couple of bad luck collisions or an off field accident can get them unfairly labeled as injury prone. Then they go on to 5-6 years of productive play and never missing a game. Other...it's just in their genes. They're talented but not physically built for football. Milliner was one of them. Guess we'll find out soon enough with Jackson. But it is encouraging that he was on target to be a starting QB for the Giants. And I do like the fact that we're getting him from the Ravens...they know how to build quality defenses there.
Wouldn't have minded Keelan Doss too. He certainly had the more impressive collegiate pedigree. And better size/athleticism The Berrios signing probably has a bit to do with picking his brain regarding what the Pats are doing too.
I know. Like I said, I'm hoping he works out, just skeptical. None of the guys claimed seem like "finds", but at this point I'm putting my trust in Douglas based upon his experience, not just in the front office, but as a player. I think he knows what it takes to be good.
Wow this guy is a genius. For whatever it’s worth, my boss is a diehard Pats fan and just Friday was talking Berrios up to me saying he doesn’t think he’ll make the Pats but could easily be the next Woodhead.
That would be nice "payback" for losing Woodhead...although we didn't lose him, Rex cut him like an idiot.
Like this signing. Good insurance if something happens to Powell or Montgomery Big bruising no nonsense runner. Good speed for his size (6'2 225)
In other roster moves, the Jets claimed rookie wide receiver/punt returner Braxton Berrios on waivers from the New England Patriots. They also claimed defensive back Bennett Jackson (Ravens) and defensive end John Franklin-Myers (Los Angeles Rams). Also, former Philadelphia Eagles running back Josh Adams is signing with the Jets to join their practice squad, a source told ESPN's Field Yates. The move reunites Adams, who was the Eagles' leading rusher last season (511 yards), with Douglas in New York.
So the Jets WR room is three very good receivers with injury histories and two special teamers. Bold strategy, Cotton.
