My guess it's because he is able to make some spectacular catches. He's not talentless, and he is still a jump ball nightmare Mel kiper has publicly stated that one of the things he looks for is special plays that other prospects can't make.
the closer we get the more i do NOT like the CB talk in round 1. i realize the need but if the jets get into a position on draft day where CB is the choice at 18 (either so called BPA/top slot on their board) i wont be happy. plenty of other positions of need and they can only look at themselves for getting trapped into a corner, so to say.
I totally understand this. I agree with those that say that Rex should be able to build a topnotch D without having to have so many CBs drafted in the 1st round. If he can't, then imo, forget his being great and that proves that he isn't nearly as good as many Jets fans think he is. I would much, much rather the Jets go offense, even OT over a CB, or if the pick is defense, would rather it be a speedy OLB or FS prospect. If the pick is a CB, however, I pray it's Gilbert.
I think after DD and Gilbert there isn't a corner that is a 1st rounder... Fuller and Roby are more 2nd rounders. Now the delema is if Gilbert or DD fall and there is still a good WR out there... Idzik has and will have a lot of options at 18 Sounds weird but we are actually in a great spot considering how deep this draft really is.
Gilbert is legit but so is Dennard either will temp the Jets if they fall. I was thinking the other day is there a chance Barr could fall? If so i think he will be our pick in a heartbeat...
Mel knows prospects. Benjamin has crazy abilities, freakish size and is flat out beast mode. Benjamin made plays this year that i have only seen 3 players make over the past 5 years Megatron, AJ Green and Julio Jones. Thats good company!
