I couldn't agree more. And also about the Titans game. While exciting those two long semi-disciplined heaves were pretty solidly on the lucky side. Its awesome that Zach pulled them off but that kind of stuff is hardly a sustainable thing you can actually rely on week to week.

I was very disappointed in his 2nd half but I'm going to try to focus on the fact that I definitely saw what looked like sustainable "real" progress in the first half. Now hoping to see more of the same this coming week.

The entire offense is not ready for that. From the coordinator on down. This fan base is so jaded we can not see progress when it is happening before our eyes. We should be excited that Moore and Wilson are developing chemistry though they both made mistakes in this game. This connection will be fun to watch over the years. The o-line is playing better and the play calling is getting better. On the offense side of the ball, we have a lot of reasons to be optimistic.

The defense has been putrid all year and has actually stunted the growth of the offense. I think it is a combination of scheme and lack of talent for this type of defense, I have never been a fan of the wide nine. Our vaunted defense of line needs to step up to protect the young back seven and they just have not.

The ref calls the PI on the bomb and we score we might have a chance at a comeback or at least make it interesting down the stretch, the crackback call was mind-blowing and makes you wonder.

I don't think it's a gross exaggeration. I even admitted his ball placement wasn't perfect but it was good enough.

Here's a link to a 6 minute video with every throw Zach made yesterday. Shoutout to the Jets Talk 24/7 YT channel for already having this up.

I'm not even including the 2 balls to Elijah where Slay makes a great play on the ball. I would count those as "catchable" but can't really blame Zach or Elijah for either of those IMO.

I hear you, I'm not banging the table here to defend Wilson because he has been bad all year. But he's 2-6 as a starter and that's with the defense giving up an average of 27 ppg during his starts.

Asking your rookie to put up 28 every week is too much, no wonder they are in last place. Lots of talk about Mac Jones in NE, but NE's D is averaging 15.8 ppg. So he's only being asked to put up 16 points to win, that's a lot more manageable. Wilson would be 4-4 as a starter if that was the case here and the Jets would be in playoff contention

We’ll I’ve been clamoring for progress from Zach for a while, and I’m tired of the excuses of bad OL, WR drops, bad playcalling Etc.

so what did I see? I actually DID see progress yesterday … albeit only in the first half. But he looked decent yesterday. That kind of performance in the first half is what I’m wanting to see more of. He looked calm and poised for the most part. I like the multiple TD game. Of course, in the second half he looked much worse. I want to see a game without a pick. Or with completion rate of 68% or so. Something like that.

yesterday he did better…60% completion and two TDS. Nice. I felt like I was actually watching a guy who maybe could play in that first half.

the second half sucked…and a better QB needed to take our first possession and get a couple of first downs to give the defense a rest. He couldn’t do it. He threw that ball to Coleman WAY too hard. The guy is 10 yards away from you dude… not 70 yards. People are saying Coleman should have caught it. Bullshit. That ball hit him in the head at 60 miles an hour. That was a shit throw.

he also had a few badly placed balls to Moore as well.

but look, every QB throws bad balls here and there…he just needs to get more consistent.

    yesterday gave me some hope.

our K was disgusting and needs to be cut today. Our defense….shit they suck always, but to be fair, we have no real talent there. Q (who is good but way overrated) and Hall I think are the only guys really worth building around.
We have a lot of picks again this year…we need OL still but we’ll need to put some investment into D this year

sucks that Seattle won, but at this point, while I’d like to see some wins, if we get progress from Wilson and lose out at least it’ll help our draft slot. Same shit I’ve been rooting for for years now….

That was my point earlier, maybe not perfect throws, but catchable for sure.

These are NFL receivers if it hits them in the hands they should catch most of them. This too hard crap has to stop. yes, Zach needs to learn to put touch on it for sure! But those are catchable passes. You won’t see any good NFL receiver make excuse the throw was too hard. Farve and Elway would throw the ball through a wall when needed. No one was complaining.

I get it, and I'm right there with ya. It seems like our D and O are never on the same page which leads to some warranted frustration.

I just wish some folks on here could take a step back and realize that yesterday, while not earth-shattering, was a step in the right direction for Zach and was a game where he showed progress.

I agree with this. Yes, it's nice to have a QB that throws a catchable ball, but if a touch pass is not called for then suck it up and catch it. Brett Favre never threw a football that he didn't want to kill someone with and they revered the guy for it.

Fair enough. He should’ve had a couple more completions, but to be honest, drops are a reality in the NFL. The Jets receivers do suck but it’s not like they’re the only ones who drop balls. The Broncos have a young squad that could be a group of all stars one day and they looked terrible yesterday catching the ball.

This is generally the reason why I still advocate that receiver should be at the top of the off-season list though. I also don’t get why the coaching staff is so against playing Berrios if Crowder is active. It’s fucking ridiculous.

I do think our receivers esp Moore will get better at drops. In couple years, a drop will be a rarity.

Totally agree, drops are a part of the game. I was just highlighting the amount of drops as my rationale for why I'm "fine" with his 60.5% yesterday.

Even with all of those drops, I still thought Zach had a good game. Now we just need him to build on that and continue to progress down the stretch.

I also think WR needs to be addressed this offseason, we're potentially losing Crowder, Cole, and Berrios. Whether we go all out for a guy like Adams/Godwin/etc. if one shakes free in FA, or you take another WR in the 1st/2nd round, either way this unit still needs another playmaker IMO.

I thought Zach showed real progress yesterday. It was the kind of game that makes you feel good about a rookie QB. He took the short passes early on, and put the receivers in good positions to make plays. Three touchdowns in the first half is good for anyone.

He's still got some issues. I saw more than a few times ball placement wasn't great, and it stopped the WRs ability to run after the catch. Moore had some drops, but I didnt think they were so egregious. It was more of a "I wish he would have come down with it, but that throw should have been better.

Zach Wilson had more passing touchdowns yesterday than Trevor Lawrence had through the entire month of November. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yesterday was progress. He still missed a couple big throws. I'm thinking of the out route to Elijah Moore on 2nd & 10; he's gotta hit that. Looked like Zach thought Moore was going to keep going but Moore stopped. First half was solid from him. The Jets had the ball for 70 seconds in the 3rd quarter; if you want to put that on Zach that's on you. The defense couldn't get off the damn field, granted the refs in the 3rd quarter were abysmal. By the time we got the ball back, we were in pass mode and to expect a rookie QB with 7 full games under his belt (before yesterday) to be perfect all game is a ridiculous expectation.

I agree couple of bad breaks for ZW, a couple of catchable balls. And PI which was borderline IMO because Moore gave up IMO. Anyways, my point while the dense sucks the offense has to hopefully do their part even if they are behind. Yesterday there were some opportunities, despite many of the fans here gave up on them at half. I was hoping for ZW to respond and he tried but then again he didn’t. But by no means I am giving up the kid. Hopefully more opportunities will come and he conquers them.

I brought this up earlier. Could you imagine the NY dirt rags this morning and what this site would look like if Wilson were playing as bad as Lawrence has this season and we just lost to the Rams by a thousand?

Exactly my point. % completion targets without context are a horrible measure of QB success

The consensus on the Jaguars boards seems to be that Lawrence and everything about their franchise sucks. So it looks a lot like this one does.
