I'll admit it, I'm not wild about him as a WR. He's very limited in terms of what he brings to the field.

He can take the top off a defense however he can't catch a simple crossing route without the very real risk of somebody stripping the ball away from him. This limits his value as an every down receiver and makes him more of a decoy than most receivers. His biggest strength is how well he tracks a throw down the field, however this strength is shared by all the great receivers for whom normal possession routes aren't such a challenge.

I just don't think he's much more than a Dedrick Ward and in some ways not even at that level.

As it happens I don't think he will be a Jet next year, somebody will offer him what he wants or more than us and then that will be that, he is very money orientated but I don't think he will down tools when the bag has been secured.

Losing him only means we have to draft another WR that brings the same speed threat, if indeed Gase is even interested in that kind of player.

Anderson wasn't a top pick. He was an 8th round walk on that no team drafted. Macc offered him a walk-on contract due to his speed. And he's struggled to become more than that. But that said, speed kills, so if you're a one trick pony, that's the one trick to have. (Plus he has good deep ball tracking and good hands)

If he walks, maybe offer the same thing to a few more 'really fast' walk ons. See if lightning strikes twice.

Dedric Ward is a great comparison to Anderson

the Jets let Ward go after his 800 yard season, Miami overpaid and had to cut him 2 years later
