Someone is going to break the bank on him this offseason it may as well be the Jets. They brought him into the league, developed him, they know him. Why let another team reap the rewards of the Jets time & effort invested in this player right when he's about to enter his prime years? Re-sign him. And yes also draft a wr or two early to build up Darnold's arsenal of weapons. I'm getting very worried here but there's still time.
Joe Douglas has nothing but glowing praise to say about Robby. Gotta bring him back man and if not better make sure they get back some real good compensation.
He's not that good. He doesn't warrant a monster contract. You are sending the wrong kind of message by doing so. There is a reason why successful GM's and Coaches find ways to get their homegrown players to buy in and take team friendly deals. They have established a culture of winning by being strict and calculated. You don't get to that point by throwing money wherever and whenever you want, at whoever you want. If It's at the right price, then you bring him back. If It's outside of the cap allowance for that player, you let him walk, It's as simple as that. Another team reaping the rewards of a 700-800 yd a season, from a former UDFA, Isn't going to kill this team. We aren't a good team, we don't have the luxury of just saying "Someone will break the bank, might as well be us." No, that's something you can afford to do when you are a high caliber team. We aren't that, we have a long ways to go before we are that, if we ever become that. I'm hopeful in that and that's the only thing that worries me, just how long are we going to be a dumpster fire of a team? It's been long enough.
For the type of money Anderson is asking, Jets can find a similar skilled WR for a lot less. Better off saving the big bucks for a legitimate #1 WR who is a gamebreaker. Unfortunately, Jets do not believe in drafting a WR in the 1st Round and prefer to sign other team's damaged goods/rejects at a discount. You're supposed to get what you pay for, but in the Jets' case, they usually end up getting a lot less.
Not taking sides here and I do understand that at Robbie's age , boys will be boys but I cannot fathom for the life of me how doing 105 in a 45 is not trouble making? I can just picture the road that I'm use to being on with a 45 mph speed limit - maybe a 2 lane on each side in a quiet part of town? maybe a country rd, but still, driving a car at that speed at over that limit is to me a dangerous weapon.
It isn't trouble making though is it, it isn't very clever, that is clear. When people use the term trouble maker or having off-field issues, where does your mind lead you to? It isn't a speeding ticket for a young guy in a fast car, I also believe a guy on here knows the road and said it was long and straight and shouldn't be a 45mph road but I may just be letting my bias take control again lol and I am certainly not trawling for the quote that's for sure
If Robby truly wants to stay, he'll be willing to acknowledge that he's not worth more than 12 million per year, and even that amount might be generous.
Not really. I will start drinking at 8 pm. Tell me if I am wrong. He is fast. Anything special about him? He is hurt most of the times anyway. Let him go. Invest in OL and also invest in pass rushers. Think please. If it was Ozzie Newsome, would he pay him 15 mil a year?
Sorry Brook, you just entered into the bullshit bingo bonus round, it is the round where people just make up shit about a player they don't want to sign. The discussion on cost comes when we know what it actually amounts to, most would sign him back at 12m, not 15m or 18m.
Even 12m is too much for him. He is hurt during critical times. Let him go. We will draft a speedster and call it a day.
I like Robbie and hope we can bring him back on a team friendly contract. But... he strikes me as a 'punk'. His trailer last season on 1 Jets Drive has him driving a yellow maserati (on a walk-on salary). He's a 'look at me' show off of sorts. I can see him mouthing off to cops. He just strikes me as the type. I don't know if I trust him with $14/m per yr. That's like a cool million every game.
Stop talking shit, he has missed two games in his career through injury and that after being stamped on by a CB, it is this stuff that infuriates me more than people just not liking him as a WR, just fucking say so and stop making stuff up to justify your opinion.
